10/29 review - Fire and Spunk but no Class

A review of the Thursday 10/29 episode.

Bo/Carly – Surprisingly boring filler scenes for what’s supposed to be the hot DAYS story right now…but I hope we haven’t seen the last of Omar.

EJ/Sami/Stefano – The beginning of the scene was lame with Sami running off on one of her tirades, spoiling all of Stefano’s fun. It got better when it became serious and she blamed him for much of what had gone wrong with her family. And of course, when Sami rightly pointed out to Steffy that most of his kids wound up dead, that was just crossing the line! Usually, I love Stefano’s dialogue…but “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world, but what cradle do you rock, Samantha?” was a bit too much, even for this Dimera lovin freak.

Rafe - Did DAYS really think they were fooling us that the SAFE reunion sequence was real when Sami was wearing a lilac shirt in her scenes with Rafe and a black and red outfit in her scenes with EJ? And it’s just like Rafe to interrupt what promised to be a great EJAMI fight.

Lexie – I bet it was really hard for Renee Jones to show up to work that day for such thankless filler crap.

Nicole/Chad – The Sydney crying voiceover cue when Chad said they’d be hanging out all of the time was pretty cheesy. But Baby Sydney made up for it with her phenomenal acting with freaking out when Chad held her and then calming down in Nicole’s arms. That kid will give the cat on Y&R a run for its money. As for Nicole and Chad, meh.

Stephanie/Nathan/Melanie/Phillip – At first, I was impressed that Melanie actually told Phillip off and threw blueberry…excuse me…cranberry muffins at him. I thought she was taking a cue from Brady Black about how to stop being a pushover. But then she had to call Nathan a comfy sneaker compared to Phillip’s sexy high heeled shoe. OK, I predict the death knell for Melanie and Nathan now. Sneakers don’t sell on soaps like high heeled shoes. Which is really bad cuz Nathan and Stephanie together are boooorrrinnng.

All in all, Stephanie, Phillip and Sami were competing for the most annoying character of the episode. And Sami and Carly were competing for the most pathetic crying moment. Should I weep for the dead baby that wasn’t really mine…or the husband that I turned into a filet mignon? You decide. Oh, Vivian…save us from this insanity!

  1. Bo and Carly : yeah i like Omar, i hope we will see him again. Boring filler scene but good acting minus the Carly crying..for me totally fake (laughable yeah i laughed)..come on CC you can do much better girl !

Ej/Sami/Stefano : i love and hate this scene.
Stefano was good, funny but too nasty (even for him it was too much) and Sami...oh Samantha..yes she was alive, fierce but the girl doesn't want listen even when it's for her own benefit and her Nicole worshipping seriously is gratting me..her behaviour immensely frustrates me..she is really her worst enemy..i hope when she will discover the truth that of course she wreak havoc on Nicole but also that she is seriously questioning her way of thinking.
Rafe has one quality but just one : he knows the truth ! (ok he is also good-looking..lol)
The Rafe/Sami dreams : cheesy and to utilize Santo/Coleen music..shame on you Dool/writers..

Nicole/Chad : Sydney was the star ! CD (Chad) is good as the awkward young guy who can't handle a crying baby and is sad of this situation..shame on you Nicole..

Philip/Melanie/Nathan/Stephanie : don't really care but i begin to liking Philip/Melanie, they work together, good dynamic..the only problem is the girl is too young for him..maybe if the Dool crew make Philip look younger and Mel look older it will be the answer !! lol
    Nathan/Stephanie : don't care don't care..Steph seems a bit alive with Phil though.

  2. I think CC has to get used to the different filming style again she had to learn a whole different way of acting with the last year of GL and everyone knows she can cry very good she just filmed GL and Days back to back to I bet its hard to get into that type of filming again. I'm about ready for Sami to find out about this baby or just let Nicole keep her dang this storyline has gone on forever.

  3. I don't see Bo/Carly as the hot DAYS story at all, and I don't think the writers intend for it to be seen as such at this early stage. In the words of Corday, "Carly's story has a slow burn to it." Translation: Carly's story is going to take FOREVER to get off the ground.

The real hot story (and the one receiving the most media attention) is the baby switch. After an interminably long setup, it's finally starting to pay off. The big reveal is set for Nov. 12. I'll be surprised if there isn't a big ratings bump that day.

I too think that CC's still adjusting the change not only in characters but production models as well. While her crying scenes on GL were utterly convincing, she was painfully off her game in that Carly scene. The writing did her no favors, with the lack of build-up expect for the Lawrence flashback we've seen a gazillion times already.

An Omar return down the round sounds good to me.

Once again, Sydney stole the show! I read somewhere that she's played by a set of triplets. I'm normally meh (or worse) about babies on soaps, but Sydney is amazing.
