Rape is Rape

This is about real life, not DOOL. Just curious if anyone else thinks this is rape when Whoopi Goldberg insisted that it wasn't "rape rape." What's wrong with these people? This is what Roman Polanski did.

Here's an article about the rapist's enablers.

  1. Whoopi Goldberg's "rape-rape" defense of Polanski (and misrepresentation of the facts of the case) is disgusting, but it's typical Whoopi. A while back she was defending Chris Brown.

View watchers are emailing ABC and demanding an on-air apology, but I won't hold my breath waiting for one.

  2. It shows how Hollywood thinks they are above the law. Polanski is a text book pedophile.

  3. He was also involved with 15 year old Natasha Kinski. So, yes that does seem to mean he is a pedophile.

Do you really believe that if he were some normal person who had raped a 13 year old, after plying her with Quaaludes and champagne, and then skipped trial (especially since it was probably unlikely he would serve any time beyond the 40 days he already served) to live in a foreign country that the Women of the View would be saying the same thing.

But what is so horrible about him coming back to California, does anyone really believe he will be convicted?

  4. Don't want to come off as you are not "With it" or part of the smart set by going against someone whom the artsy set say is an artiste, and genius, because if you do then you will come off looking like you are part of the ignorant hoi polloi.

Don't want to tick off a genius, because maybe he will throw out your agent's phone number from his Rolodex, and no role for you in his next work of art movie.

  5. And yet tons and tons of fans of this genre will defend the use of rapemance, rationalize the romanticizing of rapists all the time. The view of "but it's just fiction" is a constant. For those of us who argue that fiction or otherwise, the meme of rape as romantic sends a bad message, this attitude is no surprise.

  6. Well, there is a difference too. Jack actually admitted he raped and took responsibility. But Polanski never has, he skipped the country instead of going to trial, he used his power to stay away from the country. And acts like he was the victim.
