Macho Monday on 9th Season of DWTS

This will be the first of a series I’ll review for this season of DWTS. Since there’s been some blogs about LOST, what the hey. It's not like there's much of interest on DAYS to editorialize about right now. Speaking of which, there is no connection to DAYS with DWTS besides past dancers Lisa Rinna and Jerry Springer…

The show started with a bang with all of the sexy male pro dancers doing their thang. Derek, Maksim, Mark, Tony…just too much hotness for one stage.

And then the contestants came on…

Aaron Carter and Mark Dacascos – Both leading contenders so far, but neither one of them is really good yet. Aaron needs to tone it down and Mark needs to loosen up.

Donny Osmond – My sentimental favorite out of the bunch. As the judges pointed out, he’s a “fan favorite”…and maybe that’s because he’s an actual star on DANCING WITH THE STARS. Just like Marie, Donny’s got Star Quality out the ass. He needs to work on technique, but he’ll be a lot of fun…maybe even, gasp, win! He definitely had the dance of the night. I had a crush on him when I was a kid...and it may be coming back.

Louie Vito – Cute in a quirky sort of way. There’s potential there.

Michael Irvin – He got one of the lowest scores, but I really don’t know why. He wasn’t any worse than any of the other ones below. And at least he looked like he was having fun on the dance floor and didn’t have a big ole stick up his butt. And Bruno gave him a “4” even! Looks like the Italian judge didn’t get any action this summer. Which leads me to...

Ashley Hamilton – Obviously Daddy George Hamilton gets laid a lot more than his son! This one needs to loosen up if he’s going to have a future. Still his partner, Edyta, gets bonus points for the most gorgeous dress of the night.

Chuck Liddell – Seeing this brute dance with the graceful light Anna reminded me a bit of “Beauty and the Beast” and not in a good way. I thought he was pretty cringeworthy until I saw…

Tom Delay – The worst of the worst! After five seconds of watching him gyrate around to “Wild Thing”, I began to squint my eyes and pretend he was Gilles Marini just so my brain wouldn't explode. Poor Cheryl. If I had to go from Gilles to the Hammer, I’d be pissed.

Out of the group, Donny was the only one who really entertained me. Let’s hope the women tonight are better. What do you think?

  1. Any House fans around? I love that show. I was one of the few who specifically started watching since I knew Hugh Laurie's work prior to the show. I was a fan of the various BLACKADDER series, and he popped on the first two and then was played major characters on the second two, always the dumb, vapid idiot, and then I saw him on JEEVES AND WOOSTER, again he played the vapid character, I was impressed at how he could flash such a look of vapidness in his eyes, and it was obviously acting not natural. Then I read about House and how he was going to play a SOB genius, which was a complete departure from the other roles -- though I had seen him on other things -- and I wanted to see how he handled the a-hole role. And I was blown away.

I love House and HOUSE. And really enjoyed the season premiere last night. I am not a fan of 13 or really Foreman though, and missed Chase and Cameron, but mostly Chase -- I did not think that I would be a fan of Jessie Spencer was a pretty boy and normally I find them to be bland and not very talented actors, but Spencer is pretty good.
