Cringeworthy
The Diva wasted an entire hour of her life today watching DOOL.
I don't know what is worse, the acting or the writing. Let's keep score.
The acting is worse.
1. Taylor Spreitler. Wow. She was awful today. I hate to pick on a teenager, but she's no Kirsten Alderson. I'm glad she's growing out her bangs though.
2. Shawn Christian. He needs to cut back on the sun-in in his hair. Seriously, I used that when I was fifteen. Daniel being upset that Victor didn't bless his engagement was silly. For Pete's sake, Chloe cheated on Brady with his uncle Philip. Chloe slept with 2 Kiriakises, of course Victor is going to call her a whore.
3. Nadia Bjorlin. Her acting wasn't that bad today, but more on her later.
4. That chick playing Meredith. She has to be one of the worst actors to ever play a psycho. Most actors relish playing a role like that. She's just awful. I'm hoping her plan works. Kill Rafe quickly, not slowly like she wants, then kill herself. Sounds like a good plan to me!
5. Galen Gering. He was actually funny today he was so bad.
The bad writing was worse.
1. Ej and Nicole's 10,000th fight over her lying. It was unwatchable really. I did like the curtains in the background though.
2. Meredith and Rafe's dialogue. So awful. I still don't get why she thinks Rafe killed her sister on purpose, nor do I care. She needs to get a fucking life.
3. Chloe being pimped by a Priest. Seriously, do the writers think we'll start liking Danloe because a tv priest told us to? Stop it already. If they used these scenes to make fun of Chloe, I would be on board with it. That would have been funny. Instead they are demeaning the church. I don't think Danloe is "meant to be." I'm sure the Phloe and Broe fans don't think so either.
So it's 5 to 3 in favor of bad acting. Bad acting wins, but we all lose by watching this crap.
Some good stuff happened today. Victor calling Chloe a "whore" was priceless. That never gets old. Mia finally tells the truth to Will. Will blabs to his mom the entire story. Chad finds out the truth about his daughter. Finally, this story is going somewhere!

Thank you, because this just makes me glad I gave up. The down side, I feel bad but it just makes me feel that the fired actors are better not returning, and I feel bad because thinking that means I support them being out of work.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Even with our favs back, the writing for them would still suck. The writers couldn't come up with a decent ending for J&M, S&K, and Tanna.
ReplyDeleteI'm a recently returned viewer who watched DOOL in the '80s. I can't comment on the writing because I'm just getting acquainted with the storylines. Some of the actors are beyond bad (I'm looking at you, Mia and Chloe), while others (like Rafe) bore me to tears. I want more Victor, Kate, and Stefano. They were awesome last week.

ReplyDeleteDiva, finally someone who isn't waxing poetic about the crapfest that is Days. I had stopped watching in June but decided to give the show a try since the baby switch storyline was supposed to be kicking into high gear. OMG! Today's show was a snooze. First off, why was Nicole stuffing her face for almost the whole episode? It was distracting. Plus the scenes between EJ and Nicole fell flat for me. There's nothing there. Chloe, Daniel zzzzzzzzzzzz. Mia and Chad's scenes had no oomph for a big secret being revealed. Arianna even played by a new actress - why is she on the show? Rafe getting bashed in the head by Meredith - stupid. I wish she had pushed him off a cliff - at least that would have been exciting. Sami is still a saint - no fire or spunk in that one anymore. What in the hell has happened to Days? I know the ratings are going up but I am baffled as to why. I couldn't care less about Carly or Vivian - who are they? I won't watch until next year probably.

ReplyDeleteMia is really, really dull, i know she is very young and can improve herself but the casting director could find a girl with more spunk, charm like the Melanie actress..there lot's of young actresses on Hollywood casting..so not difficult to find.
The actor who play Chad was quite good (the difference with Mia is big in term of acting ability).
I repeat and will repeat again and again and again and again, maybe one day the writers, producers will understand : SAMI IS NOT MARLENA.
James Scott was not bad (but he was better in 2006-2007) and i don't understand Nicole's behaviour she seems disdainful when he makes accusations but in the same time she beggs,grovels for his affection..it's weird and kind of pathetic..
I just bought an iPod Touch, and was redoing my music, and came across music from the Spin Doctors, "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong," and remembered that back in the day, over on rec.arts.tv.soaps (RATS), part of usenet a very early internet site for discussion of any topic imaginable, that we RATS/DAYS people used that as Carly's song, because she was just so annoyingly perfect and everyone floved her in Salem, and she was perfect and specialized in every field of medicine -- and by that time there was no Bill, Mike, or Neil, and we barely saw Marcus.

ReplyDeleteAmen! Thankfully Diva is not enamored by Nadia, and realizes vapid stares, monotone delivery, copious amounts of mascara, and cleavage does not make for acting. I look at all the Nadia, and Nadia and SC banners and laugh my ass off because even in photos she looks vapid, and like someone at Hugh's mansion, and Danloe look like porn characters.

ReplyDeleteI have a problem with her singing too, not that she is a bad singer, but she is trained for opera, and even some of the best opera singers have the same problem, when they sing standard songs or songs from musicals it just sounds wrong. I love opera, and have noticed this with the best opera singers. And I noticed it when she tried to sing songs from musicals. I think it is because the range for arie is higher and people trained to sing opera sing in a different range. Musicals are sung at a lower octave. I remember hearing the Three Tenors singing American musicals during the 94 World Cup America finale (in LA) and it made me shudder -- and I love their versions of the great arie.
ReplyDeleteI think it is time just to get rid of Nadia. But that will not happen, she fits too much into the philosophy that looks are more important than talent. That loyalty means nothing -- unlike Nadia who kept leaving DAYS for better things, only to bomb, and then return; meanwhile loyal DAYS actors were fired and Corday then tells them and their fans if they want to see them they can at PAs.
