Post-Emmy Fashion Picks
So the Daytime Emmy Ratings have hit a new low at 1.6, but the CW had the highest Sunday ratings this year. Make of that what you will. I’ve also heard a rumor that ABC will do the show next year. Maybe the ABC execs got pissed that so many of their stars didn’t come home with the gold this year. Who knows?
As for the style and glamour, I thought it was a pretty interesting year. What I love about the Daytime Emmys is that soap stars don’t really follow the trends and all look alike, the way a lot of the actresses do every Oscar season. So there’s lots of variety and lots to look at.
Here are my Red Carpet Fashion Picks (only consisting of DAYS and ex-DAYS cast)
THE BEST DRESSED PICK
Tamara Braun – She knew how to work that streamlined 1940s-type glamour gown. A winner in more ways than one.
THUMBS UP
Nadia Bjorlin’s dress - Very Cleopatra. The most attractive awards dress I’ve seen her wear.
Arianne Zucker – Very stylish for a woman about to pop one.
Brandon Beemer – Not one of my favorites, but certainly knows how to dress for an awards show.
Blake Berris – I LOVED his hair!!!
Tracey E. Bregman – She played Don Craig’s daughter a long time ago, so she counts for this list. I’m sure a lot of people will hate her silver body-clinging dress, but I thought she took a risk and rocked it.
Judith Chapman – ex-Anjelica looked very Old Hollywood, but in a good way. Loved it.
Crystal Chappell – I only got a glimpse of her multi-colored dress during the GL tribute, but I liked what I saw.
THUMBS SIDEWAYS
Kristian Alfonso – At first, this was a winner until I took a closer look at it. I wasn’t crazy about the asymmetrical sleeves and the shapelessness of it. KA could do better.
Peter Reckell – Not at all used to him wearing glasses. Kind of cute and kind of “what the fuck!?”
Shelley Hennig – Simple black dress, classic but boring.
Darin Brooks – I liked the retro hair, but thought his clothes were kind of dorky.
Kyle Lowder, Suzanne Rogers, Molly Burnett, Kirsten Storms, Jay Kenneth Johnson, Casey Deidrick, Mark Hapka, Bryan Datillo, Eric Martsolf, James Reynolds – OK, but no comment.
THUMBS DOWN
Lindsay Hartley – Why is such an attractive woman wearing such a shapeless dress?
Felisha Terrell – Her fashion style’s as bad as her acting.
Taylor Sprietler – I think she was going for pretty in pink, but she just looked swallowed up in her big sister’s prom dress.
Rachel Melvin – What was she thinking?! What was that big humpish flower doing completely devouring her ta-tas and making her look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame in reverse? Rachel, Rachel, Rachel…?
James Scott – James, put on a fucking tie! It’s the Daytime Emmys, for the love of God!
BIGGEST LOSER
Julie Pinson – This woman saved Rachel Melvin from my Worst Dressed pick. The black short dress along with the high pink heels looked silly. And without sounding too bitchy, she didn’t really have the legs to pull off this look either. Thumbs down!

ReplyDeleteWell, I do not have much good to say about Days,right now, however compared to other shows they did have some of the best dressed women. Sadly, Lindsay looked like she was on a Star Treck episode in that shapeless dress and haristyle. It is sad because she is nice looking. It was a strange evening with Day's Karma Sutra montage followed with the likes of Cookie Monster and Elmo. I think it is an internet haox, butI heard that Ken Corday is in contract negotiations with Elmo to bring in the one to three year old deomgraphic. Also,I wonder if CW intentionally left no time for the best show's accpetance speech, because they were afraid of Ken Corday opening his mouth if Days won. Anyway,I agree Tamara was the best dressed and showed class. Diva rocks again!

ReplyDeleteDB's hair was AWFUL. Anyone with a receding hairline that bad, especially someone rather young, ought not be showing it off. I though he looked awful.
ReplyDeletePeter's worn glasses most of his life. BO doesn't though. I have seen many pictures with him with his glasses on. Makes him look intellectually cute....like he could have been the professor in the Davinci Code.
Rachel's Rose.....awful.
I liked KA's dress, especially the color.
Ok I liked Darin's hair the acting NOT! Tamara got my vote for best dressed. I did like Kristen's dress. Loved the color. For some reason Shelly and JKJ look hotter together in real like than on the show. Rachel's dress was the fashion WTF moment. James can wear whatever he wants LOL. Peter was kind of cute in the glasses and I thought his wife looked great.

So my useless opinion :
AZ : dress was OK but her .. not very pretty..sorry (she is not my type anyway but i admit she can be very pretty but here..no.)
KA : beautiful dress, beautiful woman.
PR : cute even with his glass (sunglass ?!) and his wife/girlfriend cute too so cutie couple ! (he deserved to win by the way)
RM : cutie pie but the dress..what happened Rachel ?! WTF seriously this awful i don't know what that was..a flower ? one advise Rachel : Monique Lhuillier, Marc Jacobs, Isabelle Marant..(these soap actors have managers,publicists,stylists no ? so they can work these morons..fire them presto Rachel !!)
SH : sober, class dark dress with pretty earrings. The girl is pretty but too dull for my taste.
DB : i love the retro (a la cinema golden age) hair and kind of dorky is cute (more cute than the Max version).
BB : i loved the hair !! Cutie pie and he had to WIN ! I want to see him on prime time, he has the talent for (as Rachel Melvin)
NB : the dress is ok but too common, she is a very beautiful girl but she does nothing for me..i prefer charm to physical plastic. Ok the eyes..i love.
KJK : i love dimples, nothing to say other than that..lol
MB : cute, charming girl but the dress not so much and darling close your big big mouth sometimes (just an innocent advise i swear).
JS : charming, tall, dark, handsome like usual (ok not so much on the show lately..he seems so bored !!)
EM : Cool, handsome, energic.
TB : classy dress suits her very well, pretty pretty ! And she won yeah !
The others don't remember, that's all.
Oh i am not very fan to the soap opera genre so i don't know OLTL but i saw Susan Haskell performances and she ROCKS !! Maybe the best actress on Daytime, i want to see her in good projects (prime time quality please).
I am not very fan of Jenny Garth (Kelly taylor, yes Brenda was my favorite lol) but i have to admit she was very pretty, classy with her stunning red dress and her retro hair. (Rachel watch ! For the next time).
