Are we safe from SAFE?
Are we at last safe from SAFE?
I can only hope so with the upcoming Sami/Rafe breakup.
Once Lucas and EJ get out of their toxic marriages, you can bet they’ll be running back to Sami…and I can’t wait. I don’t even want to get in to which one is the right guy for Sami. At this point, it doesn’t even matter to me. The fact is she has a real history with both of these two. They are established DAYS characters that have paid their dues. Either one of them is an improvement over Rafe. Better yet, I’d even be okay if Sami was on her own for a while. Maybe then she’d revert back to the self-sufficient schemer that I used to love rather than this whining dependent baby-popping loser that she has become.
It’s not that I have anything against the actor, Galen Gering, so much. It’s Gary Tomlin’s agenda that I object to. He has obviously gone to the James E. Reilly school of writing. Let’s gut the show of the beloved core characters only to bring on a whole bunch of new characters that have no real ties to Salem or to any of the families of Salem…or in the case of Nathan Horton, we’ll just make up some old ties as we go along. That way, Tomlin and Dena Higley don’t actually have to work at reading any character history or getting facts straight about anything having to do with the show that they work for. Why should they when Tomlin seems set on making it PASSIONS LITE anyway?
I know, I know…I need to give new faces a chance and all that. I don’t mind giving new characters and actors a chance. It’s the shoving of them down my throat that I object to, especially when I’m watching my favorite long-term characters get axed off one by one. Whatever happened to gradually letting the audience adjust to new characters? The minute Rafe came on DAYS, he became one of the main players right away. And Sami was jumping into his bed with no sort of build-up whatsoever.
From the minute Sami and Rafe were thrown together in the witness protection program, I kept getting Roman and Marlena flashbacks from the early 80s. No wonder Roman has a problem with Rafe. These two are seemingly just alike! And Sami’s always had a daddy fixation so it makes sense in a perverse sort of way. But she does not fit into the role of the 80s version of Marlena. Sami is just not believable as this bland heroine who always has to turn to her big strong hero to save her. And I don’t like her that way. Yes, I’d rather see volatile crazy Sami in either of her fucked-up relationships with Lucas or EJ than how she is now. Both LUMI and EJAMI were passionate crazy rides. That’s what I watch soaps for. But SAFE...well, it’s like watching paint dry.

My choice (but i understand other would want something else) is : A Sami single for a while who find a job (with a partnership with Vivian), who take care of her children who has interactions with Lucas and EJ and even Rafe. But who slowly become closer to EJ and finally who can live her real love story with him and who in the same time become BFF with Lucas (they have an history and a undeniable complicity when they want).
Rafe is a good guy but he is definitly not Sami's match. Ejami is "it" they are special.
I just hope writers will be smart for once and not waste their "golden pairing".
The chemistry between AS and JS have to be utilized if the TPTB want the show to continue to be aired.

ReplyDeleteWhat I resent more than anything is how with Rafe Sami is becoming more and more someone I no longer know and someone I couldn't care less about.
Where is her fire, her passion for the men in her life and I'm not just talking about in the bedroom.

ReplyDeleteRafe and Sami are the most boring couple together. They have no chemistry and there is nothing there as far as chemistry goes. The chemistry all lies with Ej and Sami. Sami and Ej complete each other and in my eyes I can see them only with each other. Soulmates...Always.

Still holding out for a Lumi reunion. A couple with chemistry, passion and fun that I can actually cheer for. IMO, Sami hasn't been likable since she and Lucas broke up. Her character was changed to pimp EJ, and now it's been changed again to pimp Rafe. In the past, no matter who Sami was with (Austin, Brandon, Lucas), she was always herself. But she hasn't been herself in a very long time.

ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Lumi together than Sami with Rafe, at least Lucas has a personality, although I hate the thought of Lucas again settling for Sami because Chloe was going to dump him.
I'd rather see Ej and Sami even though their history isn't as long as Lumi's it's filled with everything you need for an exciting couple, chemistry, passion, anger, angst, love and at times, anger and hate.
I agree Safe is way too boring and Ali and Galen may have been too good of friends to pull off the chemistry needed to make this pairing remotely interesting. Boring is being used to describe this couple over and over and over again. I think it would be a great idea to let Sami be single again. I wouldn't want to see LUMI again. EJ and Sami have the most potential but I would rather James/EJ be paired with a new love interest.

ReplyDeleteSAFE is not even in the game if they were then tptb would not have had them so predominately featured during the summer months as they do not sizzle on screen nor draw in viewers or for that matter high ratings after all according to Corday the only ratings that count are September-March. And the story for this upcoming period is EJ/Sami/Nicole.
Game over for SAFE!
I love Lumi as friends. Lucas has high expectations and Sami will never cut the mustard. Damning Chloe and wishing her dead for cheating on him, I think to myself IF he only knew what Sami did in order to keep EJ in her life she would probably have to go back to the witness protection program.
ReplyDeletePeople say they love EJole because they are truthful to one another and Lumi has passion. I guess I need my eyes and ears checked because EJ loves Sami no matter what. He always has and always will. Lucas has passion but it's still for the love of his life and let's be honest it isn't with Sami.
I'm ready for gray Sami personally. This new Sami is boring as hell and I'm sick of her crying. Fight for what you want! TPTB let EJami have a chance for once and stop the love triangle for a hot minute. Why have a copy when you can have the original. EJami!!
Diva, ITA with you! I want passion and excitement in a soap -- not cutesy and bland. Sami is a firecracker, not a bland heroine and that is what they've tried to make her with Rafe. I love Sami with EJ -- they are my preference -- I love them, but even with Lucas during the old days (not the Hogan Sheffer version), at least Sami still was bitchy and devious. With Rafe, she's not Sami at all.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a fan of Sami but I did like her when she was with EJ . She became this passionate fiery woman who could go toe to toe with this hotshot, smart and devious guy. EJ would see right thru Sami's schemes, admired them but was always two steps ahead of her..much to her frustration. Sami was always too smart for Lucas. She could run rings around him before his brain even went into gear. He berated her unless she was falling in line similar to the Bore she is with now. If the show doesn't get moving in an Ejami direction than please for the love of God, give Sami and Rafe less air time..they are horrible. I could care less about this Sami .
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Sami but I did like her with EJ. So if she is not going to be paired with EJ I say HIT the road Sami. Perhaps give LUMI their happy ever after and Sami and Lucas could leave Salem. EJ needs to be with a sexy, exciting women, Sami has become dull, boring and totally unsexy.

ReplyDeleteYou like or not her character she is the most important, the most famous and maybe the most popular with Bo and Hope. And it is mostly for this reason there are deep hard war fanbases about her leading man.
If Days can survive without Marlena it can surely survive without Sami. Give Sami the boot!
ReplyDeleteIf Alison Sweeney leave, i bet for a cancelled show, but if she leave we will see. For her (as an actress) it will be a good career move to try prime time after almost 16 years on Daytime. Deirdre Hall is not in the show anymore but Alison Sweeney is : she is the replacement as the star of the show now (but be clear i don't want a new Marlena: Not for Safe (Roman/Marlena redux), Marlena is Marlena, Sami is Sami.

But waste her as the New Marlena is a big error..
They have fire DH and DH but they have keeped AS,PR and KA for a good reason..
The cure for Boring is to use the FF button. Just FF past the boring Safe stuff. But keep watching Days because well they need viewers and higher ratings or they are DONE.
ReplyDeleteI hope TIIC were just testing the waters this summer when it came to making Sami into Marlena Jr. (with Rafe aka Roman Jr.) because if she doesn't revert to "classic" Sami by the end of the baby switch, I will cut Days out forever. The only thing she should have in common with Marlena is taste in DiMera men ;)
ReplyDeleteThe reason Sami sucks with "good guys" is because she doesnt believe she deserves them so when she is with them she becomes a needy simpering fool. Please please love me, Austin...Lucas....Brandon,,,Rafe. It is only with EJ that she behaves like herself. It is only with EJ that she doesnt feel the need to prove her worthiness 24/7. It is only with EJ that she is a sexy, passionate fascinating woman. With the others she is an agressive overeager, little girl, and it sickens me to see my favorite character degrade herself so.
