Hmmmmm....so Linus changes

So, Ben changes his evil ways, but Sayid doesn't.  Hmmmmmm.

Dr. Linus is a put-upon history teacher.  His history club gets bumped so he can supervise detention.  It cracked me up when he mentioned watching the "burn-outs" because I didn't know anyone still used that term anymore.  lol  Nice to see Sideways Locke and Sideways Leslie Arzt.  The actor playing Arzt always steals every scene he's in.  So Sideways Locke wants Linus to be the principal, and Locke will be a happy follower.  Onoz.  Haven't we seen that already?  lol

Linus's best student is Alexandra Rousseau.  She's trying to get into Yale.  Alex drops the bomb that the principal is doing the school nurse on school property.  Ben gets Arzt to hack into the nurse's email to get the dirt on the principal.  Ben tries to blackmail the principal into resigning.  The principal turns the tables by threatening to not give Alex her recommendation.  Later, we see that Ben does the right thing by picking (his daughter) Alex's future over his own.  Too bad we didn't see Gabrielle.  It would have been nice to see her without twigs in her hair.  lol  I wonder if Alex's dad is still dead?

On the island, which still remains my favorite part of the show, Ben, Lapidus, Sun, Miles, and Ilana go back to the beach.  Miles outs Ben as the Jacob assassin. Ben lies through his teeth.  Ilana is not thrilled.  She says that Jacob was like a father to her.  Ilana ties Ben to some trees and tells him to dig his own grave.  Miles tells Ben that Jacob near the end of his life hoped that he was wrong about Ben.  NuLocke shows up to undo Ben's straps if he joins him on the Hydra island.  NuLocke tells him where to find a gun.  Ben bolts with Ilana in tow.  He pulls the gun on her.  Ben has his confession.  He regrets killing Jacob and letting his daughter die.  Ben says he's going to nuLocke because he's the only one who wants him.  Ilana feels his pain, and says she wants him too.  Ben goes back to the beach with Ilana.  Where they are eventually joined by Richard, Hurley, and Jack.

Hurley's dreaming of cheese curls.  lol  Jorge Garcia always nails his little lines like that.  Jack wakes him up to go to the Temple.  Hurley knows going to the Temple is a bad idea.  He tries to lead Jack astray when they run into Richard.  Gotta love Hurley.  He always asks the questions that the audience would ask.  He asks Richard if he's a time traveler and that's why he doesn't age.  Richard tells him no.  We still don't get many answers about Richard.  He goes to Black Rock.  Bummer that it looks like the fans were right that Richard was a slave on that ship.  It still doesn't make much sense, but whatever.

He wants Jack to kill him with the dynamite.  Hurley gets freaked out because messing with the dynamite is what got Arzt killed in season one.  The Arzt death was hilarious.  lol  Anyway, we see new, mature Jack betting that the dynamite with the extra long wick won't explode by sitting across from Richard.  Richard explains that if Jacob touches you that you can't kill yourself.  I don't remember exactly what he said on that one.  Not sure if you can't commit suicide or you can't die.  Richard wants to die because Jacob is dead.  Jacob promised him answers that he never gave.  Richard feels that he wasted his life serving Jacob and received no answers.  When I saw this, I was wondering if Locke's suicide attempt wouldn't have been successful if he wasn't interrupted by Ben.  We know that Michael couldn't commit suicide either even though he wasn't touched by Jacob.  Anyway, the dynomite doesn't explode and they walk back to the beach.

At the end, we see a submarine near the beach.  Widmore is the one coming to the island.  Well, this should be interesting since we don't know what side he's on.  Jacob knew he was coming.  I'm assuming Jacob wanted him to come, but it looks like Widmore is heading for nuLocke and bypassing Jack's beach party.  It would be nice to finally see a Widmore/Ben showdown.  We still don't know why Widmore was banished.  Widmore knew that Locke's body was going to used by Smokey when he found the real John Locke in the desert.  Locke told him he that he was going to have to die to bring them back.  Widmore seemed to know what he meant.

Overall, a very good episode.  Looking forward to seeing Sawyer next week.
