FancyFace Picks 2/22 to 2/26
WINNER OF THE WEEK: Daniel. Oh, I know I’m going to get hate mail this week, but it’s nice to see Daniel in a storyline that doesn’t involve groping his patients or schtupping another man’s fiancée. Maybe with this character spun in the new direction of long lost unknowing father, he can redeem himself a bit. He’s still an idiot for not even considering the possibility that he could have been the dad after he had done the nasty with Carly at a medical conference however.
LOSER OF THE WEEK: Melanie. I can’t entirely blame this on the character, because the actress or the director or someone else has to take responsibility for all of the wine glass cracking screaming that went on this week. Molly’s voice is just too high for that screeching…and it made me feel like my eardrums were going to start bleeding. Someone, for the love of God, tell her to stop!!!
PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: This week, despite all of the inevitable controversy from both sides of the fence, I have to give it to Crystal Chappell. I thought both of her confessions to Melanie and Daniel were strong scenes; and anyone who can hold her own against the screeching of Molly Burnett deserves props.
SCENE OF THE WEEK: Call me a masochist, but the cruelty of this Carly/Bo/Hope triangle keeps me entertained because it’s just so intense to watch. When Bo admitted to Hope that he loved Carly (something which if I recall correctly, he never even said to Carly), it was devastating to see Hope’s reaction, Carly’s awkward surprise and Bo’s misery. A well-done scene by all three.
ZINGER OF THE WEEK: Victor to Vivian regarding her failed plot to get revenge on Carly - “The Three Stooges on crack could have come up with a better plan!”
REWRITING MISTAKE OF THE WEEK: Carly to Bo – “Why did I ever get involved with the Alamains?” The history, as usual, is all there on YouTube. Carly had an arranged marriage to Lawrence. The decision was made for her by her family; and the Alamains never completely got out of her life, even when she escaped them and moved to Salem in the 90s. She never got involved with them; they were forced on her. Lazy ignorant writing.
RANDOM THOUGHT OF THE WEEK #1: Was Sami’s only black dress appropriate for a funeral the one that she married EJ in a few weeks ago?
RANDOM THOUGHT OF THE WEEK #2: Which couple is now the most irredeemably fucked up? EJAMI or BOPE?
As great as the scenes were on Friday between CC and Shawn, they manage to crank it up several more notches on Monday. Shawn has really found his mojo paired up with CC. Please Days, more of these two together.

ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Hopefully MB has figured out that screeching doesn't equal great acting. Of course, she won't have a clue there's a problem if she believes some of her Twitter feedback. None other than Nelson Branco tweeted her last Thursday, "U're doing awesome work, Molly. Proud of you."

Euh last anonym how do you know Branco is the only one who twitt her good feedback ? I doubt it, she has a fanbase and i am sure lot's of people praise her via twitter. Some fans just love the actor/character and don't pay much attention of the acting quality, above all on soap..GG has a good fanbase and believe me it is not for his acting talent !
ReplyDeleteBranco bashed Molly for months on his articles. Just recently did he say anything nice about her, he only know started praising her because his friends at Daytime Royalty told him he was wrong. I seriously doubt he even watches DOOL. If he did watch it, he wouldn't be so easily swayed by total strangers on a message board.

The Safe fanbase is majorly Galen Gering fans so i believe he has fans !

I didn't say that GG didn't have fans, just not a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteNelson was praising Taylor Spreitler and bashing Molly, until the DR people disagreed with him. He bases a lot of his opinions on what they tell him.
Most of the DR posters skewered Molly's hospital scenes last week, so if Branco's taking his cue from them he's behind the curve. Whatever the case, he looks like a jackass for the 180-degree turn on Molly's acting abilities (not to mention praising Taylor).
