Ok. First, the actors decide which category to put themselves in. So if you feel someone is in the wrong category, blame the actor! lol
Lead Actor:
James Scott-No surprise there, good for him.
John Aniston-Wrong category, love John though. I'm dying to know what he submitted. I'm not a big fan of Peter Reckell's acting, but he should have had this spot.
Lead Actress:
Kristian Alfonso-The pre-nom should have went to Arianne Zucker, but Ari put herself in supporting. Kristian is definitely a lead, but Alison and Arianne had the better material this year.
Alison Sweeney-good choice.
Supporting Actor:
Shawn Christian-um......NO! John Aniston should have been in this spot instead of lead.
Joseph Mascolo-Joe is still THE MAN.
Supporting Actress:
Nadia Bjorlin-Is this a joke? Seriously? Louise Sorel should have had this one, that would have been a no-brainer.
Arianne Zucker-Excellent acting this year, wrong category. Seriously Ari, grow some balls and put yourself in lead next year. I would have given it to Lauren Koslow for the State wedding. Honorable mention to Suzanne Rogers.
Younger Actress:
Molly Burnett-No brainer pick.
Shelley Hennig-She's ok. Didn't have any real material this year. At least it wasn't Taylor Spreitler.
Younger Actor:
Casey Deidrick-He's the best actor in that age group. He did well learning that Grace was his daughter.
Dylan Patton-He's the default pick. I don't anyone else could have gotten the nom in this category. Not a good actor, which of course means he'll win like Darin Brooks did last year. lol
What's your thoughts?
Congrats to the former DOOL actors on their nominations too.
The Diva Spy Network and I will discuss our picks for the pre-noms tomorrow during our blogtalkradio show tomorrow at 11 pm est.

The Diva Spy Network and I will discuss our picks for the pre-noms tomorrow during our blogtalkradio show tomorrow at 11 pm est.
Arianne Zucker acts circles around Alison Sweeney. I assume Ari put herself in supporting because she figures it will increase her chances of a win. Her strategy could backfire because Betty White and Stacy Haiduk are stiff competition in that category.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your take on John Aniston, Kristian Alfonso, Casey Deidrick, Nadia Bjorlin (would love to know what episode she submitted), Joseph Mascolo, Lauren Koslow, and Suzanne Rogers.
It will be amusing if the recently fired (and acting challenged) Dylan Patton actually wins. Given the Daytime Emmy track record, it's not out of the question.
I bet Dylan's now the heavy favorite to win since he got fired for bad acting. lol
ReplyDeleteWho would vote against Betty White? I watched B&B because of her.
I too endured B&B just to see Betty White. She rocked! I think she has a lock on the award since the judging is based on a single episode and she's wildly popular these days, as evidenced by the "We Want Betty White to Host SNL" campaign.
ReplyDeleteDespite my Betty White love, I hate the fact that actors can submit only one episode. It's not fair to troopers like Arianne Zucker who do excellent work all year.
Betty will be hosting SNL which is awesome.
ReplyDeletePre-noms in general are stupid, it's a popularity contest amongst the cast for the most part. In prime time, there are no pre-noms. I think the Daytime Emmys need to drop the whole pre-nom thing.
When I read Nadia Bjorlin got a pre-nom my reaction was: Are they kidding? She even screwed up the coma scenes!! Lauren Koslow deserved a pre-nomination, without a doubt. Woohoo for Joe, DA MAN!!
ReplyDeleteOk Ari Zucker is good, i will even say that she owned her storyline but i disagree with the hype around her and the fact she acts circles around Ali Sweeney. AZ is good (and she wasn't at her debut believe me) but she is not the best, AS is a hit or a miss whereas AZ is more consistent and she had really better material. AS can be stronger than AZ in term of acting in pivotal scenes but she can also be really fake and awful/OTT with some of her costars (GG i think of you yeah) whereas AZ is always ok or really great with any of her costars (even if she did not have enough chemistry with JS to make a good soap couple). Anyway i think she chose to put herself in supporting to increase her chances even if she was clearly a lead this year but with Betty White in the same category..I hope and really believe she will be nominated, but to win is another story.
ReplyDeleteAS deserves a nomination for lead but to win, like with Zucker i doubt it.
KA : euh i guess she was the only one to fill in the blank, i mean she is definitely a lead and she is good but she didn't have good material.
JS deserves a lead nomination (he was even good before when his character was so much more well-written in 2006-2007 IMO) so his character was dumbed-down to suit the plot but he had powerful scenes with the Grace death and the baby-switch revelation. I really hope he will get a nom, to win i would love it but with powerhouses (and emmy favorites) like Bergman, Geary, David Canary..seriously i doubt it.
JA is not in the good category, he belongs to supporting and this place was for Peter Reckell but oh well Reckell was nominated last year so ..Aniston was certainly not a lead last year anyway.
Nadia Bjorlin : euh is it a joke ?! She was awful and her storyline was awful. This girl is a beautiful soap star maybe even smart and charming but she is not a good actress even by soap standards. Lauren Koslow deserved this place or Suzanne Rogers (or of course the always awesome Louise Sorel but Sorel was not here in 2009 so..).
Shawn Christian : euh..NO ! He was bland and his storyline..no comment, this place was for John Aniston. SC and NB seem to improve their acting recently but last year they were horrible, their names in this list are a freaking bad joke !!
Joe Mascolo : it is where he belongs, it would be cool if he is nominated.
The teen cast on this show is really really weak (even more when you compare with the strong young actors on GH or OLTL, Drew Garett will win for sure)
Casey Deidrick : why not, he is the less weak i'd say, he can be quite good so why not
Dylan Patton : euh No ! Bland, boring even if he had some good material with the Grace death but no he is one-note.
Molly Burnett : she has potential but she can also be really OTT, she is hit or miss but more often a miss but sadly stays the best among the young actresses on this show.
Shelley Henning : she is really lovely but NO ! Her acting is bland and boring and her character is like her acting. I really miss her friends Rachel Melvin and Blake Berris : it was good young actors !
So to sum up some mismatch but the choices are rather good, i really hope there will be some nominations in lead and supporting categories this year (go AS, AZ and JS !! lol).
Forget any DOOL actress in the Best Actress category. Crystal Chappell owns it for her portrayal of Olivia in the Otalia storyline on GL.
ReplyDeleteNadia Bjorlin getting a pre-nom is embarrassing. This indicates that the people at Days think she deserves an Emmy. Are they confused about what Emmys are awarded for?
ReplyDelete
