"My name is Alice too."
I just finished watching Alice's funeral from Friday's episode. Such a tearjerker! I have to say, great job by everyone involved. I am so glad that they had a fitting tribute to Alice Horton and Frances Reid.
Most of the side stories were interesting too. The Carrie/Sami scenes at the Pub didn't really interest me. I know I'm being unrealistic, but I think Sami needs a snarky girlfriend to tell her to keep stringing EJ and Rafe along. lol That would be a lot more interesting than everyone getting in her face and telling her to choose. Nice scene with Kate and Sami bonding over Johnny's cold. Great acting by Lauren Koslow and Alison Sweeney. You can feel Kate's pain that Lucas is so nearby, but far away at the same time. I could have lived without the Safe reunion at the end, but since Safe is Corday's favorite couple, we're stuck with them being pimped even during Alice's funeral episode.
Great job by Diva interview guest, Roark Critchlow on Mike's frustration after finding out he did not get to see his grandmother before she passed and that he was going to miss the funeral. Oh, and watching Jenn comfort him was priceless. It would be nice if they let nuBill do something besides stand there like a statue.
The Bo and Hope side story was fascinating to watch. Would he comfort his wife or not? Bo attended the funeral with her, but refrained from comforting her at the grave site. That annoyed me a bit, but I think Bo honestly didn't know what to do. I was annoyed with Justin lovingly looking at Hope at the grave site. That's not really appropriate. lol I was more touched by the Justin/Adrienne scenes at the pier. Those two still have such amazing chemistry. I hope they end Justin's fascination with Hope soon. I think he should be chasing after his ex-wife instead.
Oh....Kim and Shane! I loved the timing of Kim and Shane's reunion at the end of the eppy. Kim did her normal Kim routine of pushing Shane away. Shane went after her. I love these two. God bless all the Shane and Kim fans that waited so long for this reunion. Good for you for not giving up. I'm hoping that tptb see the light when it comes to DOOL's supercouples. We love them. We want them to have happy endings. Kim and Shane got a SOW cover this week! I hope we see more of these two in the future.
It was heartbreaking to hear all the characters tell their Gran stories. I loved it when Lucas put Tom's picture next to Alice's. *sob* What a sweet thing to do. And little Ali tells everyone at the pub that her name is Alice too. lol Too cute.
I probably forgot a lot of stuff but that's because it was an excellent episode from beginning to end. What do you guys think?
Kim and Shane were boring and the police should give them a ticket for overacting.
ReplyDeleteKim has had way to much plastic surgery done. She starting to look like a red headed Michael Jackson.
ReplyDeleteKim and Shane were awesome! After 18 years, they still have incredible chemistry and passion. This other poster is just jealous because their character(s) have no personality and storyline, and never will!
ReplyDeleteIt could have been better but it certainly could have been worse.
ReplyDeleteI thought the non existent funeral sucked and pretty much the only thing that touched me about Friday's episode was Bryan (and I'm not a Lumi fan). The montage was nice but the show should have ended on that note.
ReplyDeletere: Kim and Shane, it would have helped if they didn't waste most of Shane's time with Rafe and I'm sick of hearing people go on about over acting the second an actor or actress raises their voice, not to mention for a couple who has been MIA for decades, which the writers have ignored, not bothering to provide the necessary background, ie, Kim is an emotional wreck and has been from the minute she arrived in Salem. Seeing that labeled OTT makes me think some people's lives are missing color if they'd never run into that kind of behavior in RL.
I was disappointed. There was no funeral and the pimping of Bo and Hope was overdone. Other than that it was OK. There were some good moments, but really mediocre overall. It should have all been about Alice.
ReplyDeleteI actually loved it I cried I am sure that people who have been watching Days for more than lets say 20 years (like me) apprieciated the Kim & Shane reunion, as well as the Jen and Mike scenes. I wish there were more scenes with Hope, Jen , and Melissa because those three had the best relationship with Alice. I also felt that Kate was genuinly upset by Alices' death and I liked her scene with Sami it was subtle and felt real. Maybe a Kate, Sami friendship is coming down the road? As for Bo and Hope anyone who watched back in the day knows that Alice had alot to do with those to getting together staying together and getting back together so it would make sense for Bo to start having feelings for her at this time. My favorite moment was when Lucas put Tom's picture next to Alices' very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI've watched this show since 1981 and I was disappointed for the most part and not because they brought back vets I really liked but because they brought them back and subjected them to horrendous writing, and production values even better writers couldn't save. The people running this show are unbelievably clueless. They did manage get a few things right: Lucas and Kate's moments were nice, the guy playing Bill, and some of Hope and Bo but they wasted so much of the rest of the returns. I'll appreciate if they repair Kim and Shane's relationship but I don't appreciate the way the writers are going about it, way too sloppy.
