  1. I think the problem is that fans of the returning actors have just moved past the show, others remember the returns in the 00s and how badly much of the stories were, so they just are not tuning in. This month should have sidedlined the current cast and just be about the Hortons, the returnees and those people who actually had a connection to Alice. Having to shift through 70% current DAYS and 30% favorites, or seeing favorites with the sad current crop being more like props for the current gang than the current gang for them probably turns off returnee viewer.

  2. I'm going to be laughing my ass off if the ratings don't jump during and after the Alice's goodbye event.

Days is so F$@$%%d if they can't get their stuff together.

  3. I think its because the Alice memorial is basically a setup for Sami/EJ and a Bo/Hope reunion. There's really no plot and most of the wonderful returnees have the same lines spoken around the same dinner table. Maybe things will pick up when Mike gets to town (yes I love him) but I think the writers have dropped the ball.

  4. Sadly this is not the Mike who really had the Alice/Jennifer stuff. That is Michael Weiss. Just like having this guy as Bill who never was on the show. How can you have great flashbacks? How can an actor who never worked with Frances sell the material?

I would not be surprised if the ratings do not increase. Because as I said many people moved on, and just have been away from the show too long, others returned for the other returns in the 00s and were disappointed how their favorites were treated and as they say about being fooled more than once.

The sad facts are the fans would return if they had reason to believe things would be different than the past 15 years, and more sad still is the actors love characters and DAYS (they remember) and all talk about how they would love to return permanently. It is just Corday and is bad handling of the show, silly hirings in the production and writing department that is ruining it all. There is just so much potential and so many hungry fans would would break their necks and return if their favorites were back and they had faith that things would be better than in the mid-90s and 00s.

I think Sheri's books will do well because she knows DAYS, she will be writing about the characters the fans loved, and she will not fall into the shock plot mess that sadly marked the writing post-93. Too bad that Dena and Tomlin could not be writing DAYS auxiliary books for the cast of today and a vets returned with Sheri writing or at least consultant to someone who listens to her.

  5. The flashbacks so haven't been great there haven't been enough just like a small scene during each episode. I love Melissa Reeves. I agree that I would love to see Michael T Weiss back as Mike but that isn't going to happen and Roarke is good. I think it just a matter of the show being so bad lately and it is the time of year when many people are not in front of the TV or in the house unless it is really worth it.

  6. Actually Katie yeah there is a set up for a Bope reunion but the other set up is for a Sami/Rafe reunion, clearly Ej is written as the bad guy she should not be with and Rafe as the good guy she should be with; it could not be more clear (even if Ejami should be much much more interesting in every ways).
For the Alice stuff the ratings are better friday when some vets came back finally so maybe next week will be rather good...otherwise the writing of this regime is really slow and plot-driven..
the Chloe/Daniel/Carly/Melanie/Philip storyline is boring and never ends (ah and also destroys some characters like Carly or even Chloe), the Brady/Nicole/Arianna/Ej storyline is just boring, Maggie/Victor story is cute but out of the blue, almost contrived..Kate/Stefano/Madeline is quite interesting but should involve more core, importnat characters, there is no teen storylines and for this summer period it is quite a problem..the Ej/Sami/Rafe triangle is predictable and destroys the Sami character with her passive behaviour and wishy-washyness ah and Rafe is just not an enough interesting character (moreover the acting is uber-wooden) to be front burner like that and the guy to root for. Sami could be involve in another storyline like the Madeline/Kate story, she could have a job..well just doing other things than pining away for Rafe and denies her feelings for Ej..it is really old and make her character (who can be awesome) boring ! These writers really doesn't like her and it is a shame because we are many to like her !!!
I could also say that the vets scenes about Alice are becoming quickly boring because it is the same dialogue in every scenes and there are not enough family scenes (i mean lot's of core characters in the same scene) with conflicts tied to history involving Alice or not..The characters could talking about their past relationships and related that with a Alice flashback...for example the Julie/Sami scene could have been about Will and David instead of Rafe or Ej ect... And they should more focus on the Alice stuff during at least two weeks and back burn all the Chloe, Arianna, Nicole stories who are totally irrelevant and just...boring no matter what ! lol.

  7. Ah and the Julie's lecture to Sami about Ej is quite not accurate when you know Julie and Doug story where Doug was more as Ej than as Rafe..hey writers your rewriting is just lame !
