Charles Shaughnessy in SLEUTH

If you were a DAYS viewer during the 1980s, how could you ever forget the love story of Superspy Shane Donovan and “Best and Brightest” Kimberly Brady? Even now when watching the billions of YouTube clips posted of this supercouple, this Diva still wipes away sentimental tears as their theme song, “Friends and Lovers” plays in the background. For me, Shane and Kim were truly part of the best that the soap has ever offered.

Of course, Charles Shaughnessy’s career has remained strong long after he left Salem in the early 1990s (and his all too brief reoccurrence on DAYS in 2002). Since then, he starred in the sitcom, THE NANNY, and is in a recurring role on MAD MEN. Right now, he can be seen on stage in SLEUTH at Barrington Stage in Pittsfield, MA running through August 1st.

Below is a link to Charlie’s 17-minute interview with WABC Radio about his upcoming performance in SLEUTH. He discusses working on the show, his life as an actor and his television career. In it, he says that he has “never had as much fun and laughed as much” as when he worked on DAYS. It’s worth checking out just to hear that fabulous voice again!

Follow up this interview with Patsy Pease’s radio excerpts from the WE LOVE SOAPS website…and it feels like “old home week”! You can also keep up with what Charlie is doing through his Facebook page and his Twitter page.
