Days needs to get Lost

Salem needs a Smoke Monster! Bring Mr. Eko too.

The Diva is really enjoying the new season of Lost. And I am also tired of fans complaining that they are confused. Oh c'mon. It's not that hard to follow. I' m loving the time traveling stuff. What a wonderful way to explain all the island's mysteries. We know now what happened to Rousseau. Now, we'll learn more about the Dharma Initiative.

The mystery that I'm interested in now is whether or not the Losties can change the past/future. Can they prevent deaths of their friends on the island? What a fascinating concept.

But Diva, wth does that have to do with DOOL?

Ok, I'll get to the point. Since the show has taken for the worse since Tomlin decided to turn DOOL into Passion v 2.o, wouldn't it be great to have the show do a little time travel? Of course, let's do it after Tomlin and Higley leave. Have the new writer pick a point in DOOL history and go back to fix what's wrong with the show now. See that would be a stunning publicity stunt. Have one of the current characters, maybe Bo since he's psychic now, see the chaos around him and try to fix it by turning back time. Maybe have Nick invent a time machine in the psych ward. lol

So, dear readers, at what point in time would like Bo (or another character, I don't want to limit anyone's imagination) to go back to? I was thinking I would send Bo back to when the hospital lockdown happened. That was a wonderful start to a great storyline that got killed because Tomlin didn't want to use the 40+ years old cast. Nicole would still be pregnant. Sami didn't know she was pregnant at the time. J&M were still on. S&K were still on. Tony was still alive. Anna was on more than once in 6 months. Nick didn't kill anyone. Stefano was scaring people instead of changing diapers. Unfortunately Melanie, Dan, and Chloe were around. That's where the smoke monster comes in. lol

So, let's hear it. If you could turn back time like Cher, where in time would you like to go back to and start over?

  1. Less than a year after EJ raped Sami, and mere weeks and months after he continually threatened, bullied and psychologically tortured her, he chloroformed Sami at Andre's request. The mission? Get stem cells for Big Daddy. Yes, EJ stood up for Sami and the babies in the end when he found out the procedure could kill them, and got them out of there.

My huge "WTF???" moment came when in the car after leaving the warehouse (creepy in and of itself, as memories of the last time they were in a car together came to mind), Sami and EJ bantered back and forth, Sami laughed at his quips, and then told EJ maybe someday they could be friends.

    HUH?

That was the beginning of a whole lot of writing that didn't make a lick of sense. And, IMO, the beginning of ruination for Sami's character. So yeah, I'd ask Ben, or Locke, or Bo, or whoever, to go back there and turn the time wheel to fix this mess.

  2. I would take the show all the way back to when Chris Kositchek became Roman. That was the real beginning of the end.

  3. I say it goes back to Tom Langan taking over in 91. Things changed from then. Then he brought in his friend JERk who ruined the show from the moment he took over. He only got worse. It was all his ego trying to our weird his previous plot, his hate of actors -- and Langan tended to be behind much of it too. Many of the long time writers and producers were fired once Langan took over as producer. He was behind many of the firings. And once he took over he refused to listen to actors or fans. Actors who tried to fix their characters were fired, and the characters first ruined.

So I say, go back to 1991.

And I know this is blasphemous, but I think Dee returning in 1991 was part of the problem. The show was so much better before her return. I was enjoying Susan Hayes who was involved in many stories in 90, but once Dee came back she was sidelined.

I would have so preferred Stephen Nichols returning in 1991. Why did they have to have Jack get mixed with with Howie, and Matt was almost fired. It would have been so much better if Jack running off in 1991 was not due to being so stupid he lost all their money, as if Jack the devious one would be so stupid and with a hayseed like Hawk. Why not have had Jack get involved thinking Steve was alive. That would have been better, and Jack running off would have made sense.

It was around this time they had Shane and Kayla have sex -- gag. Why not have Kayla looking for Jack too. Bo was around and this was before the recast. I think Langan did not like Reckell much, hence he leaving.

Anyway, I say put the show on the Island and put them back to 1991 the day after J/J's wedding.

Oh, and I FLOVE LOST. But I really do not care for Jack, and Kate. Oh, and TPTB need to take example from TPTB of LOST. I really got into Bernard and Rose, love Desmond and Penelope, and I really am liking James and Juliet. And they have great characters. Great interaction amongst the characters.

  5. Where is the show I once loved in the 80's? Doesn't Ken Corday ever take a look back and than look at the crap he has now and wonder...What happen to DOOL??? That's what I think whenever I watch old clips. The cast was balanced and everyone got their fair share of airtime and storylines. It wasn't the Sami show and the newbies didn't take over.

  6. Diva, I can't believe you are guilty of such a faux pas! Using a doomed show such as 'Lost' to make your point is a mistake indeed! Didn't you know a show with an ensemble cast over forty will never succeed? Why Jack, Sayid, Sawyer, Jin, Michael... you're talking about actors 40 yrs. old and above... even Mr. Eko is 42! Egad, John and Ben are 55+. Why that's just as ridiculous as using shows like 'House', 'Desperate Housewives', 'Brothers and Sisters', 'CSI' (all of them), 'NCIS', '24', 'Law and Order', 'ER', 'The Office'.... in your analogy. Everyone knows that a show that features actors over the age of 40, much less 50, will never be successful, nor will they last. Why that's as ridiculous as thinking the likes of Sean Penn, Julia Roberts, Nicholas Cage, Hugh Jackman, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, ... elderly people such as those could bring a box office draw. Still, not to worry, Diva. We all make mistakes.

As far as the answer to your question, I would turn the clock back to the time that the first idiot came up with the ideology that any viewer over the age of 34 hardly mattered, and those over 49 didn't even make a damn... then I would go back to 1991 and stop the beginning of what would result in the end of DOOL.

  7. Holy crap! Eko's 42? I did see Jack had grey hair, I'm shocked Matthew Fox wasn't fired for a younger recast. Actually, isn't Evangeline Lilly the only actor on the show younger than 30? Terry O'Quinn won an emmy, on DOOL his ass would have been fired the next day for even getting nominated.

    Tomlin's such a dumbass.

When I blogged, I was trying to be realistic with the show going back to less than a year ago. But if we could go back to any time, yeah, I'd pick before JER came on in the 90s and ruined it.

  8. Well, Quinn is also bald so he definitely would have been fired. Josh is hot, but Sawyer/James is too complex so he is out of there. And then there is Michael Emerson (Benry), ah, the guy is creepy looking and OLD, I mean really old, like 50. And we have the actor playing Christian Shepard and Charles Widmore, aren't they well into their 60s!!! Idiocy.

And what is TIIC at LOST thinking THERE ARE NO TEENS, they got rid of the only teens, got rid of Walt, and killed of Karl and Alex. What morons.

  9. If there was a certain time I would go back to, It would be the Dena's first run as headwriter, JER second run, and all of Hogan's run.

The reason for that is because Dena and JER run made me quit DAYS until they left the show, it seems like Ken loves writers who don't have the passion to write. That's sad. They both (Dena and JER) seem to always mess a character up or a storyline to get people to talked about their show and not in a good way.

While Hogan had some good episodes, the show was starting to get tiresome with all the bombs blowing up and The EJ "may or may not" raped Sami love story and crying debates online. If Hogan's and Corday never started the pimping of EJ and Sami, then things might have be different today.

  10. I wanna go back to Eugene. Now, there's a REAL time machine inventor!

  11. Again, I say Langan would never have been hired, and definitely not made executive producer. Things had a big change in the summer of 91 when he took over. All the actors say that once he came on they no longer had access to the producers and writers and were not allowed any input. Langan did not care about show continuity and then when the actors complained he punished them. He brought in Reilly and they told Corday to kill the super couple. Also, from what I have heard Langan was not big on Peter Reckell or Reckell was not happy, or probably both. Maybe without Langan Reckell would not have left.

Again, I would have got SN back in 91 not Dee. I would have had Susan Hayes the veteran star, she was so much more fun and watchable.

And they could have had Steve and Hope together.

And the only time I found Drake remotely not annoying to watch was with Isabella. After Dee returned every few months we had a new backstory for him.

  12. Sorry, I mean Bo and Hope being held together, but not romantically together -- I need to proofread.

  13. I think I'd go way back to when Marlena was with Don. Don't kill off the baby and destroy that relationship. I sometimes think the show is too tied to the Brady's and Hortons being the only families in Salem to choose from. The gene pool is getting a bit watered down. Maybe that explains the stupidity of the characters. I liked the Jack/Jen era when the romance was just starting. Skip Jack raping Kayla. Keep Eugene and Caliope. Bo should have gone over to the Kiriakas side and stayed there. Renew the battle between Kiriakas and DiMera a long time ago. The competition with EJ and Phil is just lame. Would have made Sami the "chased" instead of the "chaser". EJ should have stayed bad all along, no rape, have Sami turn against Brady's to be with him; And for gods sake... did we really need Roman to really be John only to have Kris Kosichek (sp) returning as Roman? It's almost as bad as Steve's sister playing Bonnie playing his sister. Pick from a different POOL!

  14. For your viewing pleasure, Diva. Just a little something to validate my previous post.

  15. I definitely think Eugene should come back to Salem with his time machine and save the soap as we know it. 1991 works for me; if it has to be more recent, the hospital crisis with Stefano will do.
