Everyone loves Hurley

Even Hummels love Hurley.

Like a lot of Lost eppies, the show was a bit of a bummer until the last five minutes.  Yes I love Hurley too, but there's no real mystery about him.
Ilana is hell bent on blowing up the plane.  The dumb ass gets really careless with the dynamite totally disregarding Hurley's warning, then KABOOM!  She's gone.  I have to say, I laughed my ass off when she died, like I did when Dr. Arzt went kaboom in season 1.  Ilana was useless.  She was honest enough to admit she didn't know what the hell she was doing.  The team that was supposed to save Jacob and protect the candidates are all dead.  Some team Jacob assembled huh?  Ilana was cocky, and thought she couldn't be killed off.  They should have let Jack handle the dynamite since the dynamite refused to blow him up a few episodes ago.  The candidate camp has been meandering and leaderless since they first assembled.  Jack doesn't know what to do.  Ben doesn't know what to do.  Richard's faithless.  Hurley is mostly faking it.  Yikes.  NuLocke shouldn't have any problems with these morons.

In the sideways world, Hurley is a franchised restaurant owner/philanthropist.  Don't you wish more lottery winners were like him?  His mom is mad that he can't get a girl.  She sets him up on a blind date the next day with Rosalita.  Instead, Hurley meets Libby who declares them to be soulmates before her doctor whisks her away in the St. Rosa's mental hospital van.  The next day, Hurley compulsively starts eating chicken when Des appears to encourage him to seek out Libby.

Hurley bribes the doctor into letting him see Libby.  We see the familiar St. Rosa's game of Connect 4 being played.  Hurley asks Libby out on a date.  Hurley takes her to the beach picnic they were denied in season 2 when Michael shot her twice in the stomach when Libby went to fetch blankets.  Libby kisses Hurley which brings on the island flashbacks.  Hurley tells Libby she is not crazy since he is having these memories too.  Des watches the couple from his car. He happily drives off.

Team Candidates decide to go back to Black Rock to get more dynamite.  Ben tells everyone that Ilana's death proves that once the island is done with you, it's really done with you.  Ben wonders what is going to happen to them when the island is done.  Hurley somehow raced off ahead and blows up the ship.  It reminded me of  Locke blowing things up to prevent escape from the island.  He blew up Mikhail's station and the sub.  Richard decides to go get dynamite from Dharmvaville.  Hurley lies that Jacob tells them to go to Locke and chat with him.  Ben and Miles leave with Richard.  Jack, Sun, and Frank leave with Hurley.  Jack knows that Hurley is lying.  They hear the whispers.  Hurley runs off to find ghost Michael again.  Michael said it was the ghosts of the dead who are trapped like he is.  He wants Hurley to tell Libby he's sorry for killing her.  Funny how no one thinks Michael killing Ana Lucia is as bad as him killing Libby.  The Michael scenes were a total waste.  He tells Hurley not to get killed.

Back at Camp nuLocke, Sayid takes nuLocke to a tied up Desmond.  Locke asks Des who he is, Des says he's John Locke.  nuLocke seemed really surprised by that answer.  I don't know if that means that Des sees the real Locke in nuLocke or if Des fried a few brain cells in the electromagnetic cabin.  Des knows that Locke is dead.  NuLocke and Des take a stroll through the jungle.  The jungle boy shows up to unspeakably remind nuLocke that he can't kill Des.  Des sees the boy.  nuLocke is super irritated.  lol  nuLocke takes Des to a well.  He tells Des that it was dug by hand by some people who were looking for answers, not water.  Soon as you saw the well, who didn't know Des would find the bottom of it?  Apparently Des didn't know.  Des seems to have lost his fear factor.  He has no fear of Locke and says so.  Locke of course throws him down the well.  I think that's the issue with Des.  He lost his sense of fear, which is a bad thing.  Of course Des will survive because we see Sayid holding a gun on him in the previews.

In the most shocking bit at the end of course, Desmond runs over Locke in the wheelchair.  After some silly chit chat with Ben over having his son "Charlie" attend Ben's school, Desmond hits Locke with his car on purpose.  There's multiple scenarios for this violence.  Des is getting revenge on Locke for Locke throwing him down the well, or Des is trying to wake Locke up to his island life, or Des thinks that the MIB is living as Locke in the sideways world and is trying to kill him, or Des is trying to reunite Locke with Jack via back surgery.  Des seems to enjoy the act of violence.

On the island, Hurley approaches nuLocke and asks for peace to talk.  Locke agrees of course.  Frank, Sun, and Jack walk into the camp.  Jack is scared shitless.  Locke is very pleased, but only acknowledges Jack.  He says Locke's familiar greeting to Jack, "Hello Jack" with a grin.

Other than the end, the show definitely wasn't as good as the Des episode.  But finally we got almost everyone in the same place.  Next week should be good.

Spoilers:  Ana Lucia is supposed to be back.  Rumor has it she's Miles' sideways girlfriend.  Ben gets a love interest.  There's rumors of a lot of deaths coming up, real tearjerkers.

  1. I doubt it was revenge. Des knows he cannot die, so that was why he told Flocke what he did. I think that 1) he did it to jar AltLocke's memories, 2) the hospital theory from the boards is dead-on, and everyone is suppose to meet up there there.

I guess for some the Island is Purgatorio. But then Dante did put it in the Souther Hemisphere. Like some on the boards I was not bothered that the Whispers are the those souls which cannot move on at the present. Dante's Purgatorio was on top of Inferno. And since the gang is bringing in mythologies, literature along as naming characters scientific and philosophical figures it makes sense.

I had to chuckle that Des ordered "a #42," one of the numbers he clicked in for three years, and also Douglas Adams' meaning of "Life, the Universe and Everything."

I think that Sahid and James are part of Jacob's game. They are working on his side. I think he was shrewd enough to know that they were useful to his plan. Sahid the expert soldier is doing that now, he is used to playing dirty and sacrificing even if it means murder. Then there is James. He is the conman, and he is playing the ultimate con on Flocke.

I think that Des saw his future, and that is why he is helping Charles Widmore, because he knows he will get Penny and they will have Charlie, but if MIB escapes then all that will cease to be, along with all life.

Back to Sideways universe. I think that Locke might just make it alive, and that going to the hospital might also resort in Uberdoktor Jack operating on him, and not only saving his life but fixing his paralysis.

It will be interesting to see if AltLocke does not bleed through onto Island Locke and that causes problems for the MIB.

And where the Flocke is WAAAAAALLLLLLLTTTTT, he was popping up like one of the Whispers and now nada. I guess since it is back to being late 2004 early 2005 that the kid playing him would be too old. I want to know more about why he was special and what happened that scared the heck out of them to ship him off the Island -- there was a whole scene in these extended scenes wherein Benry and Juliet are talking about something that happened with WAAAALLLLTTTT that freaked the Others out.

  2. I would like to see MIB lose some of his mojo because of Sideways Locke's getting run over. I wonder if Locke going under anesthesia would affect nuLocke in some way, maybe the real Locke can come through on the island.

Walt was always the most interesting part of the whole Michael dynamic. There's nothing new to learn about Michael. Walt's still a mystery. I assumed when they brought Michael back this year that we would see their sideways lives, but I guess not. I do wonder how Michael and Walt would have gotten along if the plane landed.

I'm throwing my "Hugo is Jacob" theory out the window since Des was playing the Jacob role last night in the sideways world. Hugo seems clueless now on the island. It's getting hard for me to cheer against MIB when his adversaries are so stupid.

  3. I think that in the Sideways universe that Michael and Whatsher name raised Walt, so there would not have been the conflict. I still think that -- despite a different actress -- that the 30-something black, female lawyer was she. They lingered on the woman too long, and the fact they had a 30-something, black female as the lawyer was for a purpose -- even minor characters on this show are important, remember when Locke ran into Nadia in his backstory.

I agree that Hugo is not the new Jacob. He has his Constant in Libby. I wonder more about Libby because remember we know that she offered Des the yacht for the race, and I was sure at the time that Charles Widmore -- spoken in Pierre Chang's voice -- was behind it all.

I think MIB is pretty dense too, though. He should know that Des is special and time jumps, and would know what is going to happen, that Sawyer is a scam artist, and so on. Thinking about it, it does seem that the people with MIB are the sharper knives in the drawer, so if I were Jacob I would put my smarter, more devious folks in as moles. And I think that is what is going on.

  4. Didn't Michael live in NYC? It would be nice if Michael and his baby's momma stayed together to raise Walt. I wonder if Walt would still be special without the plane crash.

Yeah, Charles figured that Des would be the one to find the island. I do remember Libby giving him her boat.

I don't think MIB had much choice with Des. He couldn't kill him so sticking him in a well seems like a good option. I don't think Jacob has moles with MIB. Sawyer's not working for anyone but himself. Sayid and Claire are beyond redemption yet are dedicated to Locke. Kate pretty much does nothing. None of them have a Jacob experience.
