"I didn't get fired from DOOL, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."

I wonder what Stephanie Sloane thinks when she calls Corday? Seriously. In the latest issue of SOD, Corday insists that firing the DH's, SN, MBE, and TP wasn't ageism. Uh yeah. How many actors in their 30s did you fire? None. The only younger actor that got fired was Blake Berris. He got fired because he doesn't look like Darin Brooks even though he can act rings around him. What stops Stephanie Sloane from shouting "bullshit!" whenever she talks to him on the phone?
Does Corday really think that the Skorks are going to stick around to see if Steve and Kayla show up in an episode or two? Yeah, Corday said they are not going to get an ending. They'll just be around popping in once in a while. WTH? Does he really think this huge fanbase will tune in everyday hoping that their couple will show up?
Thank God for Thaao Penghlis. That man tells it like it is. "I've spent 20 years on that show, and a producer from Passions came with a vision, all I can say is I'm in good company." He's talking about Gary Tomlin. It's obvious that Tomlin is the one responsible for the current crapfest on the show. When he came on, suddenly the show shifted from the DiMeras to Chloe fucking around. Thaao's last tape date is March 4th.
I actually enjoy the Nicole storyline mostly because Arianne sells it so well. The Diva agrees with James Scott, she is the best actress on the show now. But shifting the show completely away from the vets to the under 35 set is a mistake. Of course the show needs balance. Firing 5 actors over the age of 45 is not balance. It is ageism. It's so obvious that TIIC do not care about good acting. It's all about how you look half naked. The vets fired actually do look good half naked. They have wonderful, time tested chemistry with their partners. But hey, they cost too much, so let's get rid of them and distract the audience with random sex.
The Diva has noticed a lot of comments about how old fashioned the way couples were set up in the past. The Diva remembers as a kid that sometimes a couple would wait a year for even a kiss. I'm not saying it has to be that slow, but it would be nice if the first kiss and the first sex scene weren't in the same episode. Remember when first kisses meant something? They are called milestones. Anyone in any real life relationship can tell you their milestones. Can anyone really remember the Danloe milestones? Nothing says romance like being molested by your doctor.
As far as Rachel Melvin quitting, good for you girl. Good luck!
Well, from the show's acting Emmy nominees from last year, only Darin Brooks is left. Yikes. That's bad. Hey, maybe Thaao will get another nom in 2010 for Tony's death. Who knows. I know he has a better chance of getting one with only a couple weeks of work than Nadia Bjorlin. But why bother putting yourself up for nomination when you know a pink slip will be the result? Don't go to acting class. If you want to succeed at DOOL, work out and get breast implants.
There's definitely room for Ken Corday and Gary Tomlin on "The Office." They make Michael Scott look like a managerial genius. Yes, Corday did tell Stephanie Sloane that he gave the survivors of the Corday/Tomlin tribal council t-shirts for morale. I wonder if they said "Dunder-Mifflin."
This SKORK won't be watching this horse shit!! Diva your so awesome with your blog!!
ReplyDeleteI loved this entry!
ReplyDeleteThis Skork is gonna be around for a long time!
The firing of Stephen and Mary Beth has me pissed off beyond words! I plan to make TIIC regret their actions. Weather or not it helps in any way....I don't know....but I do know that I will have had my say!
Bravo, Diva... Bravo! Your words are my words, just more eloquent. No doubt, morale is at an all time high.
ReplyDeleteNot.
Again Diva, truer words have never been spoken. This SKork won't be watching this garbage. I came back 2 1/2 years ago to watch a soap opera, not this trash.
ReplyDeleteI just love your blog. You tell it like it is. I hope you stay around.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell Corday what he can do with his stinkin' tee-shirts!!!
ReplyDeleteWait Nadia has had breast implants? I guess she isn't as unique as I have heard she was over and over.
ReplyDeleteVery informative post Diva...I wonder if all that are left are excited about their great new t-shirts....I mean who cares their friends and colleagues just got fired they get t-shirts. I for one would be EXCITED....whoo hoo t-shirts! *rolls eyes*
Skork en route to Exodus checking in. Making SK the next Doug & Julie is an interesting choice. It's a really bad choice, but an interesting one, nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteTo your point on, ya know, growing a couple into our hearts rather than f****** them into our faces, I will say this. There was a time on Days of our Lives when I couldn't wait to see what happened with EVERY couple. I rooted for all of them, and I cared about all of them. Because one couple begat a story for another couple, which begat the next, they told two friends, and so on. That's not a "formula." That's storytelling.
Let's talk about that demeaning t-shirt. How disgraceful and embarrassing for everyone all around to be given a t-shirt congratulating them on surviving the hemmorage of their cast? Congratulations, your good, dear friends and colleagues got the shaft, but you got to keep your house! Good on you! These people were their friends. Is he that much of a complete sadist? Does he care that little? Either he truly doesn't, or he was joking. I hope for the latter. Besides, like Kristian needs Corday's lousy t-shirt, she's got plenty of her own on HSN.
Also, Diva, I agree with you whole-heartedly on today's thoughts, but you really need to begin calling out Bruce Evans. He has the power to stop these things. But instead he sticks his head in the sand. Eh, what can ya do, it's easier for him that way.
Meh.
One more thing. Congratulations, Deev, Ken Corday must be a reader of your blog! How else to explain the single vote in your poll above asking who we'd rather work for, Corday or Michael Scott? Obviously, he's here, and he voted for himself. Nice!
ReplyDeleteDiva, you said it so well. Corday is a horses ass! I came back to watch Steve and Kayla and they were screwed from the get-go.
ReplyDeleteIs Darin Brooks good looking? I always thought he and Blake were equivalent in that department. Yes, BB is skinny but DB has obvious body fat on him (which on TV is worse). Also, DB's receding hair line and inability to grow facial hair takes off even more points.
ReplyDeleteBut I do agree BB could act rings around DB yet it was the soap industry who awarded DB a nomination.
I actually think BB is better looking than DB, but TIIC preferred DB's looks.
ReplyDeletelmao at Corday voting for himself.
I adore Steve and Kayla Nichols and Evans.
ReplyDeleteWill NOT support Days of Our Lives under this direction but I also refuse to STOP PESTERING NBC AND CORDAY AND THEIR SPONSORS.
I will not go quietly into the night.
I will however boycott everything NBC including Leno, Primetime and Today. Sponsors I will be watching you and not purchasing your product line.
Corday, Gary Tomlin are indeed guilty of age discrimination both in performers and in their concept of audience and sponsors it is stupid. Look who really controls the earnings in a family and in a recession who will tighten the budget for whom.
As for the current cast on Days, the decline is obvious. The new characters have zero personality and a lot of annoyance factor. The writing for 2008-2009 has been just awful.
As for Darin Brooks his on screen annoyance sister Melanie whose sing song voice grats the ear has made Max impossible to watch and has weakened his character enormously.
Without The Patch man Days has been effectively Canceled.
ReplyDeleteNo vets no Days.
One good note: I will no longer have to put up with the horrible direction Mr Passions II Gary Tomlin has been setting, will never have to listen to the writing of Dena Higley nor will I have to ever view Daniel and Melanie ever again. Those are the good things.
Bad things Days was once a great soap and now looks as bad as a soap could possibly look.
Great blog. I really enjoy reading your thoughts. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteMessage to Corday: Voting for yourself once is vain. Voting for yourself three times is sad.
ReplyDeleteI agree Hilary. I mean can we say DESPERATE?
ReplyDeleteAnother great post Diva. I don't believe this show will last until 2010.
