Soap Opera Digest as well as other sites, noticed that Peter Reckell's wife, Kelly Moneymaker made some interesting tweets regarding Peter's lack of a contract. You can read all the details here.
So do you think Peter is really leaving or is he and his wife stirring up the fans to try to get a better deal from Days of our Lives?
I think he is gone. Tomlin seems to prefer those underwear models. I think the strong armed him into not renewing his contract. After all the buzz and negative flack for the other firings, I think the could not out-and-out fire him, but set it up so it looks like it is his decision.
ReplyDeleteThe show will have three females in mid-40s and older, and no men except the perverted, scummy looking Dan. And with hints that Kayla and Steve are kaput, three of the four supercouples will be broken up.

ReplyDeleteThe problem here is not the 'supercouple' issue, people have to get over it, this supercouple obsession doesn't do any favors to characters, they got stale, they have no storylines, they become boring.
The real problem is the fact that Bo the character is quite indispensable to this show..nobody can replace him, a leading man with so much ties, history and rich dynamics in his age bracket..well he is the only one..and these writers are not able to write good new characters to fill the hole..
Good for Peter, after all he is not Bo Brady he has a life to live out of this little soap world..but it screams disaster for Days of Our Lives the soap opera..just watch..
This show is going to end soon. I think they better get rid of Gary Tomlin soon and let Lorrain Brodwick take over. I really think that Daniel and Rafe are not popular at all both them are not that good looking either. I really think they need to bring popular vet back and that is Matthew Ashford is much needed as Jack Deveraux he has more storyline potential than those two idiots on the show. I do not care if Daniel is with Jennifer he can have her but I really think that Hope and Jack can be good for each other because Hope is too good for Rafe, Jack is way more interesting and he needs challenge women, Jennifer does not cut anymore she cannot offer Jack that she is dull and boring she deserves Daniel in bad way now. I really think they should test Hope and Jack out I think that Matthew Ashford and Kristina Alfonso are good actors and if Peter Recklec is leaving the show in November what better way to bring Matthew Ashford back (Jack he finds Jennifer with Daniel he moves on without her and Hope lost Bo so they can comfort each other, we can also have Billie/Jack/Hope love triangle. Jack is way more better compare to Daniel and Rafe and put Jack back into suits again even mind seeing him shirtless too he looks much better shirtless than Daniel the loser. Jennifer can have daniel leave the show. Jack needs Horton he can pair up with Hope let Jennifer turn green with envy. We will miss Peter Recklec but he did the right thing.

ReplyDeleteThey need Jack/Matthew Ashford he is also leading male actor and popular with Bo gone I think that Jack and Hope might need each other after losing Jennifer and BO. Jack and Hope are most popular characters on that show and if Jennifer does not get her act together she may lose Jack to her cousin that would be interesting to see. Jennifer/Jack/Hope love triangle better than fighting over Daniel he is not prize at all more like loser to me. Jack has plenty of storylines as well and family in town too he can create his own drama without Jennifer around.

ReplyDeleteIf Peter is leaving it will leave a big hole at Days. I, like many others, started watching when Bo arrived in Salem on his motorcycle and swept Hope off her feet. I think he was the first daytime soap character to really appeal to the teenage/ early twenties age group. I'm really sad to see him go but the writing's been on the wall for a while.

Instead of MARS NEEDS WOMEN, Venus needs men. There is talk that SID is saying ED is coming to DAYS. So what is that, how man women in the 45-60 bracket, Marlena, Kate, Hope, Kayla, Jennifer, Billie and maybe Kristen. Yet in the same bracket for men there is Roman (barely on), Dan hated by large number of viewers, and Abe (not a main squad player).

DeleteOpps, my bad forgot WhoeverTheHellHeIsThisWeek, aka John. Though I would hope that with J/J, B/H and S/K broken up that ONE supercouple is together. Sorry folks I do not consider Justin/Adrienne, though a great couple, to be part of the supercouple pantheon, supercouples were the main focus of the show at the time they were couples, and the show pretty much centered around them.

ReplyDeleteSad to think of days without Bo. i think peter reckell is a fine understated actor with so many rich ties to the history of the show. If the powers that be think that the EJ/sami show wioll bring in hordes of viewers as a redux of the epic love story of dannifer ,(Blech), then so be it. i can't remember the last time i watched an entire episode.

DeleteEuh i don't think so they never write for them to be together, on the other hand they wrote stories around each of these characters because they can drive stories, are interesting, have interesting dynamics with lot's of other core characters? come from core families, are themselves core characters and are played by some of the most charismatic actors on this soap.

It is just not true : MarDar have been pushing Ej/Nicole as a couple for the past 10 months, Highley did the same with some Taylor option for good measure..and guess what it was big failures !
DeleteAs for Sami; writers like Highley and Tomlin have been pushing Sami/Rafe as a couple for the past 3 years or more and right now since he came back MarDar have been pushing for Sami/Lucas as a couple..therefore writers NEVER EVER EVER gave a chance for Ej/Sami as a couple, it is almost offensive to lie and to say otherwise Alistair !

Moreover without them lot's of (less dynamic and important characters yep it is what it is) would not have ANY stories, time to wake up.
