Great podcast as always. However i saw some tweets talking about how Lucas accepted Sami before Ej and i just respectfully totally disagree. Since Lucas met Sami he was snarky towards her, went as far as pushing her to bulimia when he told her she has to lost weight in order to get Austin..and at this time they were supposed to be friends..After that it just got worse and worse; they became vicious enemies for a while schemind against each others..And finally when they got together he was the one in the relationship who put her down every chances he get..telling her again and again that she 'will never change' that she will always be 'the bad sister' still and again comparing her to her big sister Carrie..belittle her, lecturing her ad nauseam..and THAT to me is the opposite of accepting someone. While along the years i could enjoy Sami and Lucas interactions, with their fun bickering chemistry, sometimes banter or as snarky enemies or frenemies or co-parents what always bugs me what Lucas's self-entitlement, superiority towards Sami and never ending lectures about her behaviour whereas the guy was not better than her (putting her on death row, setting her up with a Will doll in order to make her crazy, playing on her insecurities about her weight, appearance when they met ect...)In Sami's life it seems two men did accept her : Brandon until he discovered her scheme against Lexie's pregnancy and left her and the town and Ej who only lashed out against her when she rejected him again and again and tried to make amends every time about his schemes against her.
I meant more that Lucas accepted Sami before EJ did, not in the context of how long into the relationship lasted. Lucas and Sami were kids in the beginning, and they were nasty to each other for years. I felt that Lucas accepted Sami around the "green" wedding. I feel just now that Ejami have truly accepted each other without trying to change each other.
I disagree, at the time of the 'green wedding' Sami was supposed to be reformed and Lucas kept talking about how he was proud of her that she 'changed'..he only finally 'accepted' her because she was supposed to be a 'good girl' now. Whereas Ej told Sami she did not need to change just when he met her and she wanted so much, she was desperate to keep Austin and again he made a big romantic declaration telling her he accepted everything about her : 'the good, the bad and everything between' in 2007. However i agree with you about one thing : it seems that this time finally Sami seems to accept Ej which she did not before.
So to me Lucas never really accepted Sami unlike Ej (and Brandon for a time).
Lucas handled the rape news better than he would have when he was younger.EJ was obsessed with Sami in the beginning like Sami did with Austin. I don't call that love. Now seems like the first time that they are mutually in love with each other at the same time. I feel that the Lumi green wedding was truly the first time Lumi loved each other equally.
Ej was maybe 'obsessed' but i talked about acceptance and to me Ej since the beginning (obsessed or not) accepted Sami, Lucas not at all and at the green wedding he accepted the 'new her' the reformed Sami so NO he did not accepted her. Like she said last week he accepted just one part of her or more accurately the part she tried to be not the real her, flaws and all. As for the obsession versus love, first it is a debatable subject all in all..And to me for a time Ej had an obsessive love for Sami, which was maybe not equal because of Sami's behaviour and attitude. And the lack of equal intense love from BOTH of them for a time maybe from your pov makes you label these feelings more as 'obsession' than love but that is only your interpretation, to me it was clear since the beginning that Ej felt intense love which he tried to dismiss by his awful actions (and the hard need to please Stefano) and Sami was more in denial than anything else, trying to ignore what she felt in order to be reformed and be with men she believed were good, moral guys (and that writers tried to make the audience buy Lucas as one was laughable given his history by the way). The comparison between Austin/Sami and Sami/Ej to me is just innacurate : Sami was attracted to Ej the second she met him, they dated each others for a short time but they did before all hell broke loose but still they did. On the other hand Austin was already in love and dated Carrie when he met Sami, at this time he never entertained the idea to date her unlike Sami with Ej..so the situations are just different, moreover Sami above all decided to reject Ej because he was 'bad news' (and after that she did reunite with Lucas..some people tend to rewrite the chronology of these events..too much often) whereas Austin was just in love with one person : Carrie, did not look at nobody else so not at Sami. Although when Carrie left with Mike finally Austin wanted to have a relationship with Sami, he even chose her over Greta and Nicole but of course all in all his first choice was Carrie like Ej's first choice was always Sami.
Oh and i forgot; also a major important factor in Sami's decision to reject Ej the first time was Will..yep Will did not accept Ej's relationship with his mother since the very beginning, he gave her ultimatum over it and him and Lucas pressured several times Sami in spending more time with them as a 'family'..At this time Lucas was jealous and even schemed to ruin Ej and Sami's first real date with his son's help. Sami wanted to please her son and trying to give him the family he always wanted as well as somewhat redeem herself in her family's eyes after the last Austin/Carrie fiasco she dumped Ej..and that was before she knew that Ej was really bad news and schemed against her family..When she discovered that he schemed against her and her family and rebound very very quickly with Kate..that was the last straw and she rejected him totally and at her turn schemed against him (set him up to be caught by the cops and John..december 2006). So Austin's history with Sami is a total different history than Sami's history with Ej.
