FancyFace Picks 1/25 to 1/29

WINNER OF THE WEEK: EJ Dimera. Yes, he’s being a mean vindictive snake by kidnapping Sydney, not to mention a rather lackluster reveal as the “mastermind”. But at least, for this week, he managed to break up the yawnfest that is SAFE which makes him a winner in my book.

LOSER OF THE WEEK: Okay, I love Wally Kurth and I enjoyed Justin in the 1980s, but it pains me to call Justin out this week. Going to Carly’s house just to insult and throw judgments at her is making his character way too hypocritical and nosy. I’m all for Justin and Carly fighting with each other, but they should do it at a hospital boardroom or in a courtroom. I’ll also say though that Justin’s character is getting as thrown under the bus as Hope’s at this point; and as always Carly points them out on their hypocrisy. Rather than be the martyr who does good deads every five minutes like in the 1990s, now she points out “the truth” to all of the miswritten characters that cross her path. This is an insidious way for the writers to parlay favor for Carly Manning’s character, but I’m not fooled.

SCENE OF THE WEEK: Vivian and GhostLawrence. Damn, it was just fun seeing those two together again; and I love snarky GhostLawrence. I’m still hoping he’s not really dead.

PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: A three way tie for Louise Sorel, John Aniston and Michael Sabatino who ROCKED it this week.

ZINGER OF THE WEEK: (When Philip asks if Victor is in love with Vivian) Victor: “We are in love in Vivianland which is way way over the rainbow.” Victor was really on his game this week with the zingers. He had me literally laughing until tears were rolling down my eyes at his response to Vivian’s “message” from GhostLawrence.

DRINKING GAME OF THE WEEK: Take a swig every time Troy pointed at Arianna and cried out “SHE’S A NARC!” on Monday’s episode.

DÉJÀ VU OF THE WEEK: I get annoyed at rehashed stories on the soaps. It’s even worse when they are rehash from last year. The whole mix-up with Arianna answering Anna’s phone call practically came right from the script when EJ answered Brady’s phone call during the baby switch. And a couple breaking up over how a ransom of a kidnapped child was handled? Can anyone say BOPE and Ciara? And now there’s a rumor that DAYS will be renewed for multiple years. While I’m glad DAYS isn’t on the verge of cancellation, I’m really not understanding the secret to their success this time around.

I'm rubber, and you're glue

Another lame DOOL eppy today.

Here's the high/lowlights so you can choose to watch it or skip it.

Maggie/Melanie.  Maggie gets Mickey's stuff from his office.  The old romantic already had a Valetine's/anniversary gift ready to go for his wife.  Maggie decides to donate the ballet tickets to the hospital to raise money.  Maggie finds some liquor in Mickey's things.

Ej/Sami/Rafe.  Ej and Sami look at Sydney photos.  EJ assures Sami he will bring Sydney home.  Rafe comes storming in about EJ's fingerprints being all over the ransom notes.  EJ claims he already had the notes tested for fingerprints/DNA and didn't find anything.  Rafe and Sami fight while EJ receives a call from Anna who comments about the Safe knock down/drag out fight sounding like Armaggedon.  EJ's elated and tells Anna she'll get her money soon.  Sami blames the entire baby switch on Rafe being assigned to protect her, because we all know that Sami keeping her pregnancy a secret had no bearing on Nicole easily switching the babies.  I do understand Sami's venting because she's upset about Sydney.

Viv/Victor/Lawrence's ghost.  Victor tells Viv to go after Carly quickly, and to leave Melanie out of her revenge plans.  Viv decides to go after Carly since she's growing fond of Melanie.  Viv gets a headache.  She dreams that Lawrence tells her to go after Melanie since he doesn't want to be stuck in eternity with Carly.  Can't blame him on that one.  Very inappropriate sexual chemistry between aunt and dead nephew.  Way too touchy/feely.  Vivian changes course again to go after Melanie.

Justin/Hope/Carly/Bo.  Justin and Hope talk at the Pub.  Carly comes and gets her coffee and leaves for the pier.  Justin gets a cell call.  Hope goes after Carly.  Carly has a lot of nerve asking for a "thank you" from Hope for briefly raising Shawn Douglas.  Considering what a dumb ass Shawn D is, I wouldn't go around bragging about that.  It's still the "blame Hope" show.  Carly blames Hope for Carly doing the nasty with Bo.  Bo walks in on the fight.  He isn't interested in talking to Hope alone unless it's about their daughter.  I honestly don't get Bo.  He cheated on her, and yet he treats her like the adulterer.  Why is Hope putting up with this crap?  It's demeaning.  I'd have more respect for Hope if she would dump his cheating ass.  Bo and Carly go back to his home.  Carly actually suggests that Bo come clean with Hope about her daughter, he refuses and they hug.  Where's Bo's family?  Why hasn't Caroline or Roman asked him wtf is he doing?  I seriously doubt Caroline would be happy about this.  Her absence is odd and glaring.

Louise Sorel stole the show again.  Thank goodness we got her back.

"EJ you got some splainin to do"

EJ/Stefano  EJ, daddy is on to you. So great to finally see Stefano back and pissed. Enjoyed the loving scenes today between father and son. Now with DiMeras, those were loving scenes. EJ refuses to forgive Stefano for keeping the secret about Sydney and Stefano is determined to make amends and to try and help EJ. Stefano finds the baby medicine and wants EJ to explain. Can't wait to hear this one.

STATE  What a pleasure to see them back and arguing over who has the worst sons. Kate seems to think her sons have a more forgiving nature than EJ and Stefano says so that makes my son a pig? No Stefano, that just makes Kate's sons a bunch of wusses. We need to see these two spending more time with Viv and Victor.

Kate/Philip  Maybe The Diva missed it, but when did Philip and Kate make up? It was about time to have Kate at least talking about her son's wedding. Kate does play the hypocrite so well in telling Philip that Vivian is dangerous and to keep her away from Melanie. Of course Philip has to remind her of what she did to Chloe.

Viv/Victor  Those two are always at their best. Victor has had enough and tells Viv he will take care of Carly himself and she is no longer needed. This makes Viv up her game and she finally gets the news from Gus that Melanie is indeeds Carley's daughter. Surprise everyone!

Maggie/Carly  No wonder Maggie is going to hit the bottle again. The poor woman justs wants to rest and no one will leave her alone. Why the hell does Carly always have to go where she is not wanted? That would include Maggie's and the whole town of Salem come to think of it. Suzanne does a good job of being totally stressed out and about to lose it.

Arianna/Brady/Troy/EJ  So both of Brady's women will be in jail now. Looks like Brady got the Salem brain there and actually was accusing EJ, but that went no where. I guess we will have to wait for Rafe to figure it out for sure.

Anna/Sydney  Ok they showed Tony's picture again today??? Just bring him back already! Anna is worried about Sydney and calls EJ who keeps forgetting to bring home her medicine.

Carly/Mia WTH was that about?

Carly/Bo zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Now the best for last

BOPE  Bo bumps into Hope and breaks the sailboat she got for Ciara. Yeah we get it broken boat, broken marriage. Then alot of the same ole same ole it was your fault not mine blah blah blah, but then Hope steals the scene with a snap of a finger in telling Bo just how quickly he replaced her. JUST LIKE THAT! You go girl. The look on Bo's face was priceless.

FancyFace Picks 1/18 to 1/22

Sorry, I've been very under-the-weather this week and watched most of this week's episodes while being stoned on cold medicine.  But I want to start off the new year right and be consistent with putting up my Picks so...

WINNER OF THE WEEK:  Sorry.  I can't say that any characters did anything very winner worthy at all this week.

LOSER OF THE WEEK:  Melanie.  She's taking over Nicole's role of being the most overexposed character.  And the Carly hatred is coming on way too thick.  Every line to her is an insult.  We all get that Melanie doesn't like her, but the dialogue writers are bludgeoning us over the heads with it.

SCENES OF THE WEEK:  I did like the Carly/Melanie scene when Carly finds out about how Trent treated Melanie over the years.  Also, I liked the Julie/Hope scene where Hope said Bo was no longer her hero.

PERFORMER OF THE WEEK:  Even Suzanne Rogers didn't do it for me this week.  No performers either.  DAYS really needs to step things up.

ZINGER OF THE WEEK:  Vivian (to Victor):  How was your medical checkup?  Victor:  I'm alive.

"Can I write off a paternity test?"

You know the show was pretty dull today when Alison Sweeney's turbotax commercial was the best part of the show.  It was clever, well written, hair and make up was perfect, and the set looked great too.  In other words, Corday had nothing to do with it.  One of the names shown in the commercial was "Drake."  I didn't notice the first name, but Drake was the second.  I'm sure that is not a coincidence.

Anna/EJ/Sydney.  Anna tells EJ that she won't be his nanny forever.  Anna reminds him to buy more meds for Sydney.  EJ says the Sydnapping will end soon, which in DOOL time means 2011.

Chloe/Brady/Philip  Chloe tells Brady to call Nicole.   He refuses.  I must say, Nadia's eye makeup was quite beautiful today.  With her cleavage covered up, you actually noticed her pretty eyes.  Philip comes in later to show Chloe the necklace he bought Melanie to give when she gets pregnant.  There was a definite lack of chemistry between Chloe and her two ex's today.

Troy/Arianna/EJ.  Drugs spill on Ari's table.  Troy tries to strangle her.  EJ for some unknown reason shows up and saves her.  EJ never answers the question on why he was there.  Roman has Troy arrested.  Troy puts Caesar=Roman together and figures out that Ari is a narc.  Ari looks guilty as hell.

Vivian/Carly/Melanie.  Carly sees Viv and Mel bounding and flips out.  Several insults are hurled.  Dr. Dan with his bad dye job comes in to rescue Carly.  Carly accidentally spills coffee on Melanie's $10 Kmart wedding dress.  Melanie's furious.  Carly leaves with Dr. Dan unmolested. Viv dries Melanie's tears and offers her a new dress, thank goodness!

Bo.  Bo gets Dan to keep an eye on Carly at the hospital.  The Diva is glad that Dan got rid of his awful highlights, but now his color is too dark and drab.  Bo tells Phil again he will be in the wedding.  Then, busy Bo shows up at his house with Carly telling her sob story.

Another dull show.  Seriously, who cares about Arianna?  I'm sure I wasn't the only one cheering for her to be choked to death.  Louise Sorel steals another show.  I was hoping for a non-crying eppy from Miss Sydney, but unfortunately they made that little girl cry again at the end of the eppy.  :-(

"He's not my hero anymore."

"No!  Don't make me go back to Salem!"

The show would have been a total dud yesterday without Louise Sorel.

Viv/Melanie.  Viv gives Mel some dresses to try on.  Poor Mel.  DOOL must have cut the wardrobe budget.  The dress she picked looked like it cost maybe $9.99.  It didn't fit.  The material looked cheap.  It looked like a summer nightgown.  Seriously, wtf?  Viv and Melanie bond.  The Diva enjoyed their bonding.

Hope/Justin/Julie.  Hope feels bad that Justin's marriage fell apart even though it wasn't her fault at all.  Hope confides to Julie that she wants Bo back.  I honestly have no idea why she wants him back considering he has no remorse about cheating on her.

Anna/Sydney/EJ.  Oh the poor baby playing Syd yesterday!  They made that poor baby cry to show that she's sick.  The poor thing kept reaching out for her real mum during the scene.  That must have been a challenge for Leann Hunley.  EJ admits he had no intention of giving Anna the ransom money.  He said the FBI has it.  Um.  Don't you think the FBI would give the money back?  What are they doing with it?  I can see them keeping it as evidence, but eventually it should go back to EJ not Rafe's retirement fund.  Anna's finally catching on that EJ has no intention of giving the baby back to Sami.

Rafe/Sami.  They fought over the ransom.  Sami throws a fit and leaves the room.  blah blah blah.

Victor.  BTW, John Aniston look fabulous in his suit yesterday.  Victor was at the hospital needling Carly.  I really enjoy CC/JA scenes.  He brings out the snarky side of Carly instead of her normal attitude, which is a weak-minded, fraidy cat homewrecker.  The scene was too short though.  Victor threatened Carly.  Viv shares the false news with Vic over the phone that Carly came to town for Bo and not her daughter.

The show is starting to head downhill again.  I'll blog about that later. It's been awhile since I wrote a good rant!

zingerpalooza!

Yes Bo.  You did fuck my brains out!

Today's show was somewhat amusing. Lots of zingers today.

Kate/Viv.  Way too short of a scene.  Seriously?  What were they thinking cutting this scene so short?  Viv mentions "her" son Philip, Kate flips out and grabs Viv's wrists at the Java Cafe.  Viv mentions to Gus, "good thing that little twit didn't break the skin.  I would have needed a rabies shot."

Bo/Phil/Viv.  Phil asks Bo to be a part of the wedding that happens sometime in February.  Bo agrees.  Bo sees Viv eavesdropping so he came up with the brilliant idea to tell Philip that he and Carly had been involved for quite some time to throw Viv off of Melanie's trail.  Viv kind of falls for it.  She questions Phil on whether or not Bo confides in him often.  Phil said that Bo was in a sour mood.  Viv says, "having an affair with Carly would make anyone sour."  lol

Carly/Mel/Phil.  They were discussing Melanie's lack of a career.  Carly has flashbacks of her labor of Mel.  Lawrence was mean mean mean.  He threatens to harm the baby.  Carly says she'll stay with him in exchange that the baby gets adopted.  Carly's frequent zoning out creeps out Melanie.  Melanie leaves then comes back to fetch her coat.  Mel confides to Carly about her awful childhood and the fact that her and Phil want kids asap. Later, Mel wonders to Phil why she confided in Carly.

Mel/Kate.  Kate tries to talk to Mel, Mel's not interested.  Kate got "dumped by Smurfette." Maxine tells Kate that only Maggie is close to Melanie.

Kate/Maggie/Melissa.  Melissa hugs Maggie and leaves town.  Kate comes in to give fake sympathy to Maggie while trying to get info from her about Mel.  Maggie figures it out, and kicks Kate out.  It's nice to see spunky Maggie again.

Stephanie/Nathan.  Nathan won some award at the hospital.  Steph tells him that Mickey saw it before he died.  Nathan thanks Steph with a real kiss outside the Pub.

Bo/Abe.  Bo showing his lack of possession of the Salem brain, tells Abe about the big lie he told to keep Viv off track.  Abe tells him that his life would be easier without Carly.  Bo says for the ten millionth time that Hope left their house with their daughter. blah blah blah.  Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting the impression that Bo is enjoying hurting Hope.  Bo tells Abe that he'll tell Hope later that it was a big lie that he and Carly had a long term affair.  Abe is obviously not impressed with Bo plans.

FancyFace Picks 1/11 to 1/15

WINNER OF THE WEEK: Mickey Horton. For the first time in years, Maggie and the rest of Salem acknowledged his existence.

LOSER OF THE WEEK: Mickey Horton. Even his funeral was backburned.

SCENES OF THE WEEK: 1) The Bo/Carly sex scene. As I mentioned in the podcast, I’m thinking beyond the fanbase wars. It was refreshing to see a scene with characters over 40 that shows some skin and hawtness. Just two years ago, we had JARLENA and TANNA sex scenes cut all up over the editing floor. And Mary Beth Evans spoke out about Gary Tomlin’s ageism. So I consider the Bo/Carly scene a step in the right direction. 2) While I confess that I could have used a cigarette after the BARLY sex scene (if I smoked), I felt pretty darned guilty about that once Hope found out about the scrump session. BOPE at their painful angsty best. 3) I still say, to hell with BOPE and BARLY, the real power couple is Carly and Hope. My TV was catching on fire from all the dramatic fireworks at Maggie’s house. My guilty pleasure this year has been watching these two go at it. 4) The last Lucas scene with Maggie. It was bittersweet to watch because I’ve always loved the Maggie/Lucas friendship and I hate to see it come to an end.

PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK: A three-way for Kristian Alfonso, Peter Reckell and Crystal Chappell. Strong performances. For me, this is going beyond a supercouple-with-interloper plot. I’m starting to think there may be a real chance that BOPE might really break up. And I like that, because it reminds me of the pre-spoiler pre-supercouple triangles like Anna/Tony/Renee or Marie/Neil/Liz where there was some doubt as to who would win out in the end. The stakes are higher and the melodrama is thick. I admit I’m not particularly invested in either couple so I’m just sitting back and enjoying the show. Soapy goodness!

ZINGER OF THE WEEK: Victor to Brady: “I think I liked you better when you were high!”

MOST AWKWARD MOMENT OF THE WEEK (MAYBE EVER!): Melanie to the grieving Horton clan: “Nice welcome. Who died?”

MOST MESSED UP RETURN OF THE WEEK: It was great to see Lisa Trusel again, but I can’t deal with Melissa Horton having black hair…unless she’s played by Camilla Scott. Still, there were missed opportunities. She would have been a great BOPE cheerleader in their time of need as she was a solid friend to both of them during the early years of their romance. And why can’t we find out who Nathan’s father is? You may say “Who cares?” Well, I care, damn it! For example, if Pete Jannings is his father, then that gives Melissa the Hypocrite of the Week Award for bashing Melanie. As I recall, Melissa got in all kinds of trouble hanging out with Pete, including getting Mickey accidentally shot! If DAYS is going to bring Melissa back, even for just a day, they should use her.

Alison Sweeney to guest star on "Mercy."

that harlot

Without Sydney, this eppy would have been a total dud.

Anna/EJ/Sydney.  Anna questions EJ on whether or not he's done torturing Sami.  EJ's been quite snippy all week, and he continues with his snippiness.  The Diva would really like to see Anna tell EJ off.  EJ asks Anna if she's insulting his intelligence.  Someone should!  lol  EJ's ready for phase 2.  Miss Sydney walks for the first time.

Melanie/Mia.  They discuss Mel's lack of a mother.

Chad/Gabi.  They are cute, and quite flirty.  Chad and Gabi are Rimi v. 2.0.  Rex and Mimi were pushed to the sidelines because of the constant need of the show to pimp Shelle even though Rimi was a much more interesting couple.  Same situation here.  Chad and Gabi are better characters and actors than Will/Mia.  Chad wants to be friends only, Gabi is disappointed.

Barly.  They discuss Melanie.

Safe/EJ.  Typical Sami being hysterical over EJ not answering her calls.  Even if he didn't kidnap Syd, I wouldn't blame him for changing his number because of Sami's constant spazzing.  Sami debates again whether or not to tell Rafe.  Rafe leaves to talk to Gabi at the Pub about Ari's hold up.  EJ finally calls Sami back and beckons her into the DiMansion.  EJ gives her another ransom note.  Anna calls and talks to Sami in a disguised voice.  Ejami are instructed to drop off the money at the pier of death.  Funny how no one points out that is where Tony had his fall.  Rafe shows up. Uh oh.

Team V/Bo.  Viv wants to electronically track Carly's movements to determine who her daughter is.  Bo shows up with his "I had sex with Carly" tattoo on his forehead.  Bo gives her a restraining order to stay away from the harlot.  Viv guesses due to the smile on Bo's face that he got laid for the first time in years and assumes that Carly is the harlot.  Bo doesn't deny it and leaves.  Vic is furious.  He berates Viv blaming her for pushing Carly towards Bo with her threats.  He tells her to get Carly taken care of now.

Carly/Melanie.  Melanie totally owns Carly.  She points out that Carly's actions always have negative consequences even if her intentions are good.  Hard to argue with that.  Carly tries to talk Mel out of marriage.  Mel's offended.  Can't blame her on that one since Carly has no right to tell a virtual stranger not to get married.  Carly leaves and runs into Bo outside Maggie's house.

The twits.  Will and Mia kiss at the Java Cafe.  For some bizarre reason, Kinsey is making fun of Mia's mourning.  Good grief.  Who acts like that?  This is where the show hits rock bottom.  Totally stupid, filler scene.  It's like a different writer writes for the twits.  Gabi's going to the Olympics or something.  Whatever.  Please take Will, Kinsey, Mia, and the other dude with you please.

Holy ratings, Batman!

Jeff Zucker passes the buck

The Diva loves bashing Jeff Zucker. He's the moron that basically said that he wanted NBC out of the soap business which lead immediately to sinking ratings for Days of our Lives.  I seriously doubt he'll ever learn the lesson that quality shows = quality ratings, crappy, cheap shows = crappy ratings.  Zucker is the moron behind the Leno fiasco.  I honestly don't know why this guy has a job anywhere in entertainment.

Thanks to the poster who linked this Huffington Post blog entry about Zucker.

Darrin Brooks returns briefly...

What do you think?

more crying, Tuesday's eppy

This dialogue is making me bored too.

Except for the Will/Mia pimping, another great episode of Days of our Lives.

Safe/EJ/Johnny.  Sami flips out over the news of Mickey's death.  I don't remember them being particularly close.  Sami decides to spill the beans to Rafe about the ransom note.  EJ drops by later.  Sami enjoys watching EJ so much with Johnny, that she decides to trust him about the ransom note.  Total cuteness with EJ and Johnny.  Awwwwwwwww.  Sami sends Rafe out to gather Will, poor Rafe is her errand boy now.

Mel/Nathan/Stephanie/Phil.  Hot kiss!  Wow.  I guess Mel was wrong about Nathan being a comfortable sneaker.  Very romantic.  Nathan took charge and laid a romantic kiss on her.  Stephanie lends Mel her earrings.  Phil and Mel discuss postponing their elopement.

Barly/Hope.  Hope calls before Barly can go for round 4 of their nooner.  Bo tells Carly that he'll call her.  lmao Such a one night stand line to give her.  Looks like this is probably going to be a long term affair instead of your typical "I fell and she happened to be lying there naked" one night stand.  Bo meets Hope at the Pub.  Someone from the hospital stops by and thanks Bo for escorting poor widdle Carly home.  Hope jumps to the correct conclusion that they did it.  Bo actually doesn't deny it.  She thanks him for being honest and leaves for Maggie's house.

Anna/Syd/EJ.  Anna wants this storyline to end.  Don't we all.  EJ is quite rude and snappy with her.  It'll be over when it's over. I'm assuming that EJ thinks that Sami hasn't suffered enough yet.  Sydney of course is as cute as possible.  EJ leaves Anna and Syd.

Lucas.  For real, he was on today.  He consoled Maggie.  Great crying on Bryan's part.  Why didn't Sami mention that Mickey was Lucas' uncle?  She was more concerned about Will's reaction to Mickey's death.

Will/Mia/Rafe.  *yawn*  Mia breaks the news to Will.  Rafe tells Will to be there for Mia in her grief.  Why didn't Lucas do this scene instead of Rafe?  Rafe isn't even Will's step dad.  It's a shame how Lucas and Bryan Dattilo got thrown under the bus for Rafe and Galen Gering.  They are literally giving Lucas's scenes to Rafe.

Performer of the day:  No doubt that would be Kristian Alfonso.  She has to deal with the loss of her uncle and her husband's betrayal.  Suzanne Rogers was again wonderful as Maggie grieves.

Screencap courtesy of chit chat haven.

"I liked you better when you were high."

"I liked you better when you were in a coma."

Over all, Monday's eppy was very good except for the Arianna stuff.  *yawn*

Ari/Melanie/Troy.  Seriously, just kill Arianna already.  The Diva has a feeling that Troy is going to hire one of Stefano's fired assassins to take out Arianna.  The hitmen on this show suck!  lol  Just ask Philip.  Ari giving Melanie a handkerchief for her wedding was nice. Still it reminds you how few friends Mel has.

Maggie/Julie/Nathan/Melanie/Doug.  The Horton family gathers to comfort Maggie.  Very touching scenes with Maggie and Melanie.  The Diva wishes that Maggie was Mel's mother and not Carly.  They have such a wonderful bond.

Phil/Viv.  More unexpected bonding with Phil and his incubator.  Viv very skillfully supports Philip on his decision to elope.  Viv gives Philip her brooch to give to Mel to wear on her wedding day.  Philip is touched.  Viv's magic seems to be working on Philip.  I'm glad to see some movement in this storyline.

Vic/Brady/Arianna.  Vic and Brady bicker again about Brady's lousy choice in women.  Nice bit of history with Victor reminding Brady that Nicole tried to have the Greek killed.  "But she's changed!"  lol  Yes, Nicole is no longer attempting murder, she's just kidnapping babies now.  Brady reminds Victor that he has Vivian living with him.  Victor was actually speechless!  lol  Cute smirk on John Aniston's face.  I'm so glad he's being used more often.

Barly.  Carly fell for all of Bo's typical cheating man lines, "let's forget about the outside world." blah blah blah  Carly tries to put the brakes on the scrump by asking if they are going too fast.  I vote yes since he's STILL MARRIED and hasn't even filed for divorce.  Both characters acted like Bo was totally single.

Poor Carly.  I wasn't sure if she had lipstick smeared on her face or if Bo took kissing lessons from John Black.  The poor woman's face was red from the nose to her chin.  Man we can't get rid of the bad kissers on this show.  We went from John Black, to Dr. McCreepy, to Bo.  It's an epidemic!  Can we please have a kissing coach on this show?  It's not necessary to jam  your tongue down the actress's throat *cough* Shawn Christian *cough*.  And you don't need to suck their face off *cough* Drake Hogestyn *cough*.

Hope hasn't gotten any sex in years, probably since she last had sex with Patrick Lockhart.  Yet Carly got a two-fer from Bo.  Poor guy is so sexually frustrated.  lol  Barly looked like they were going for the hat trick too.

FancyFace Picks 1/4 to 1/8

Okay, for the New Year, I'm coming clean and admitting that I'm not the Diva, but FancyFace from our regular podcast shows.  So feel free to call in at one of our shows and tell me that my crazy weekly picks suck if you want.

WINNER OF THE WEEK: Nicole. She got off with only 20 years in jail instead of 40, yay! Seriously, no real winners this week. Just all losers.

LOSER OF THE WEEK: This was the week of the flipflop lovers. Melanie, Mia and Brady were all playing their love interests against each other this week. Why is Melanie now fantasizing about “comfy sneakers” Nathan when she has sex-on-a-stick Philip in her bed? Why is Brady making love overtures to Nicole and then telling Arianna that he’s only being supportive? Why is Mia telling Gaby that she’s soulmates with Chad, and then starts pouting when Will finally finds his brain and dumps her? These wishy washy characters are a waste of airtime.

PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: Damn that Suzanne Rogers! She had me crying with every scene on Friday, even when we haven’t seen RealMickey since the Salem Serial Killer nonsense. She’s going to rock this new storyline. Honorable mention to Kristian Alfonso. It’s got to be hard playing Hope with the way she’s being miswritten, but during the Maggie/Hope scene of Mickey’s death, I felt like I was watching the real Hope.

SCENE OF THE WEEK: Again, I have to give it to the Maggie/Hope scenes on Friday. This proves that DAYS can write good drama when they try. Actually, all of DAYS on Friday was good except for the Mia/Will crapola.

ZINGERS OF THE WEEK: Numerous zingers from Da Judge during Nicole’s hearing that I’m too lazy to transcribe right now.

"Lost" Supper

Lost fans must see this.
The Diva doesn't even know what to make of that picture.  I flove John Locke or undead Locke whatevah.  Thanks to Sally for the heads up.

Josh Holloway is on the cover of TV Guide.  In Josh's interview, he said that Charlie, Boone, Juliet, and Charlotte return for a few eppies.  Claire is back for the full season.

DOOL makes the Diva cry again! For shame!

Uncle Mickey's dead?  I didn't even know he was still alive!

Viv/Carly.  Some things read better on paper.  The Diva enjoyed reading about the Viv/Carly elevator scene.  It wasn't as much fun to watch.  First, the elevator was HUGE.  Yeah it was a hospital elevator.  It was hardly claustrophobic.  I'm sure Ejole or Lucloe could have fit a king size bed in there.  Anyway, Viv made Carly freak out.  It's hard to watch that scene without cheering for Viv.  Carly's still no match for her.

Bo/Justin.  The Diva's disappointed that no fighting/shirts being ripped off didn't happen between those two.  lol  Bo accuses Justin of wanting Hope all along, blah blah blah.

Maggie/Hope.  Maggie tells Hope that Mickey's dead.  Kristian Alfonso had me tearing up again, dammit!  Great performances by these two.  Mickey leaves the building for the last time. :-(

Will/Mia.  They were fighting about something or either.  Whatever.  Who cares.

Safe.  More angst about Sami keeping the ransom note a secret from Rafe.  Bo shows up at the penthouse for no apparent reason.  Sami thinks about spilling the beans to Rafe then keeps her mouth shut again.  The unfortunate braid is still there.

Ej/Anna/Sydney.  EJ visits his cutie pie daughter.  Poor little Syd looks drowsy the whole eppy.  EJ chuckles a bit about the ugly boots/setting up Kate.  Apparently Anna needs money to to live in her dream house in Bora Bora.  I still don't get how she's penniless.  Tony had his own money, and she would have been his sole heir.  Whatever.  EJ was super cute with his daughter.  Good looking men + cute babies = ratings gold!

Carly/Bo.  *gack*  Poor, weak Carly calls Bo over her elevator ordeal.  Apparently Carly didn't get the memo to have sex in the elevator and not at the Salem Inn.  Since Bo drank a sip of beer, I'm sure he'll use that as an excuse to Hope when he gets caught.  Hope fell for the whole horny gas excuse with Bo and Billie.  So far, the writers have basically made Carly into Billie v 2.0.  She's just as pathetic as Billie Reed.  Such a shame.

tearjerker

Today's episode was very good other than the annoying teens.  Here's your Diva notes on Wednesday's eppy:

Nicole.  Nicole gets sentenced to 20 years in jail.  The judge showed sympathy for her.  He felt that she wasn't in her right mind due to her miscarriage.  Sami of course, gave birth to a calf after his verdict.  Seriously, wtf was up with Sami's hair?  Even Princess Leia wouldn't be caught dead in that braid.  EJ smirked in the court room.  Nicole starts to pass out during her sentencing.  Superhero dumbass Brady catches her before she hits the linoleum.  Arianna, already competing with Brady for dumbass of the year 2010, watches her "boyfriend" fawn over his ex.

After the sentencing, Chloe says goodbye to Nicole.  Nicole admits that she made a mistake fighting for EJ when she loved Brady all along.  Brady leaves Ari at the Pub to say goodbye to Nicole.  Nicole wants Brady to move on by giving him a kiss goodbye.  The Diva is on the Bricole bandwagon.  Wonderful chemistry between Ari and Eric, something that Eric and Lindsey are missing.

Sydnapping.  Anna's getting paranoid.  She thinks there's someone around her house.  She's still at her house with the Sydster.  At the end of the eppy, EJ shows up at her door.  I wish this wasn't leaked.  In case you were living under a rock, EJ is the mastermind behind the Sydnapping.

The Teens.  Gah.  Mia's being rewritten now as a bitchy teen wanting two guys.  She never showed any interest in Chad until Gabi comes along.  To make things worse, Mia wanted to make out with Will with dead Mickey upstairs.  Will overhears Gabi and Mia arguing over Mia trying to juggle both guys.

Maggie.  Suzanne Rogers stole the show today.  First she was trying to reassure Chloe that she can run the hospital in Maggie's absence.  Yeah, the Diva thought that was funny too.  lol  Apparently Maggie's job is comforting people.  The Diva doubts emotionless Chloe is up for that job.

Nice scene with Lexie and Maggie talking about love and marriage in Maggie's kitchen.  It's nice to see female bonding on the show instead of bitchy antagonism all the time.  Maggie goes upstairs.  We see her sit at her kitchen table and cry.  The last scene was shot beautifully.  Bravo.

Galen's NYE Twitters

Some inspirational and profound thoughts from Galen Gering's Twitter page on New Year's Eve.  Kind of gives you hope for the new decade, doesn't it?

----------

"And can dick Clark sit out next year... It's depressing. And his makeup artist needs to take it down like ten notches"
"Of course if you're not good at your job anymore it's time to move on...would u want a bad roofer or electrician working on your house?!"
"Nothing against people with debilitating diseases...it's just not the uplifting moment I'm lookin for I guess"
"I'm not insensitive to clarks condition I just don't see it as inspirational. It's just an obvious reminder that getting old sucks"
"If you've had a prolific career as an announcer and now can barely count down from ten, I'm sorry but that's not inspirational"

----------

In other news, Lisa Trusel will be returning as Melissa Horton for the Mickey Horton funeral to come.

There is also a rumor out there that Lawrence Alamain may really be alive.

Help wanted!

The Diva needs some uncopyrighted, used with permission, music for our blogtalkradio show.  If there are any musicians in our audience, feel free to submit music for the show.  We will give you all credit of course.  We only need 30 seconds or so of music for the intro and the closing of the show.

Feel free to email us or send us a message on Facebook.

The Diva's 2009 year end review blogtalkradio show this Saturday!

We scheduled our show for Saturday at 11 pm for a full hour due to popular demand for a longer show.  This show, the Diva of Days of Our Lives and her mighty Diva Spy Network will discuss the last two weeks of Days. Other topics include: top 5 favorite DOOL storylines for the decade, our recommendations for the year 2010, Bryan Dattilo's firing, the Sydnapping, Melanie and Philip's engagement, Carly and Bope, Victor and Vivian, possible return of Thaao Penghlis, and the upcoming death of Mickey Horton.

Please feel free to call in and give us your opinion on DOOL at 914-338-1239 or you can join us in the Diva chat room.
