Dennis Hopper 1936-2010

Dennis Hopper died today at the age of 74.  While Hopper is known for his many roles in film, including the iconic EASY RIDER, DAYS fans may recently remember Stephen Nichols (ex-Steve, DAYS) starring with him in the TV series CRASH.

The Diva interviews Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes

The Diva is proud to have an interview with the first "super couple" of daytime drama, Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie, DAYS).  We'll be talking about "Like Sands Through the Hourglass" as well as a new book they have just completed, Frances Reid's Memorial Luncheon and more.  A must-hear interview from 1:00 to 2:00 PM EST on Friday, June 4th.  Call 914-338-1239 on our Blogtalkradio channel to ask a question.

Gary Coleman 1968-2010

Here is Mark Hapka (Nathan, DAYS) posing with his friend and co-worker Gary Coleman during the premiere of "Midgets Vs. Mascots" at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.  They had both acted in this film, a documentary which follows 10 contestants as they compete for 1 million dollars in prize money.

Last night, Gary Coleman tragically died at the age of 42 after suffering a brain haemorrhage earlier this week after a fall from his home.  Gary will be remembered for his roles in the ground-breaking classic TV series, THE JEFFERSONS, GOOD TIMES and DIFF'RENT STROKES.

Here is Mark's statement on his Facebook page about Gary:  "I'm seriously heart broken at the loss of our friend Gary Coleman. Not only because of his death but how miserably he spent his final days. There was such an amazing soul in that man that everyone buried with their words and their ways. I know God saw it and will have mercy on his soul. The pain is over my friend! We love and will miss you! God Bless! RIP"

The Diva wishes condolence for Mark during this time of loss as well as to Gary's family.

SoapNet Going Off the Air

Big news out of SOAPnet today gang. We’re sure you’ve read or heard some of it, but we’ve got the official word.

Disney/ABC Television group has announced plans for a new channel, Disney Junior, a 24-hour network for preschoolers and their families. Its launch is planned for 2012, at which point it will take over SOAPnet’s spot on your program guides.

What does this mean for SOAPnet fans? Here goes:

1. You get 18 more months of SOAPnet programming, including encore presentations of All My Children, General Hospital, One Life to Live, and The Young and the Restless, as well as Beverly Hills, 90210, One Tree Hill, and a third season of the critically-acclaimed original, Being Erica.

2. ABC and are dedicated to remaining the home for the very best in daytime programming – All My Children, General Hospital, One Life to Live, and The View.

3. Full episodes of all ABC Daytime shows will be available online, allowing current SOAPnet viewers who are unable to catch them on-air to stay on top of their favorite series.

In a press release, Disney co-chair Anne Sweeney explained the decision, saying:

"The launch of Disney Junior in the U.S. is the next step in our global preschool strategy, which began 10 years ago with the premiere of our first dedicated preschool channel in the UK. The decision to ultimately transition SOAPnet to accomplish this was not arrived at lightly. SOAPnet was created in 2000 to give daytime viewers the ability to watch time-shifted soaps, before multiplatform viewing and DVRs were part of our vocabulary. But today, as technology and our businesses evolve, it makes more sense to align this distribution with a preschool channel that builds on the core strengths of our company.”

It’s been a wonderful 10 years with you, SOAPnet fans. We look forward to two more, and of course, we’ll see you at ABC!

Commentary by FancyFace:  I would be upset about this if SoapNet had actually aired much in the way of soaps for the last few years.  When they started throwing the soap reruns out for their own reality shows, TV movies and nonsense like that, they really jumped the shark.  I don't care how much money the network wasn't making at doing the soap reruns.  They should not advertise themselves as showing soaps while airing programs of a different format.  I'm sure my five-year-old will be thrilled about the Disney Junior Channel however.Share

Lost's mindblowing finale

I loved it.  I cried, and cried, and cried.  Every reunion, I cried.  Well, I was wrong.  lol  I thought everyone would die on the island but Jack.  Turns out, everyone lived but Jack.  I'm very content with the ending.  I wish Michael, Walt, Ana Lucia, and Eko would have been there.  The actor who portrays Eko refused to return, rumor has it he wanted more money.  Still, it was a fantastic ending.  Not sure why Ben refused to go into the church, maybe he still felt guilty.  Maybe he just needs to let go.

Watching Jimmy Kimmel now.  ttyl

My advice, fire Tomlin, Higley, and whomever else is writing this crapfest.  Oh, and create a murder mystery by killing off Rafe!  To be honest, I haven't watched this show in over a week.  I just can't do it.

THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY (starring Michael T. Weiss, ex-Mike, DAYS) – performed by 2econdStageTheatre in NYC, written by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by Edward Torres; running until June 20th

My preconceived idea about this play is that I wouldn’t like it. Just the title of THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY accompanied by the heavily-testosteroned African American wrestler on the cover of the playbill made me feel like I was about to walk into one of those sports biopics along the lines of ROCKY; and while I actually enjoyed watching ROCKY, the thought of enduring such a rah-rah yay-for-everything-in-the-boxing-ring story from the second row of a theater was building up a bit of a dread factor.

However, the title and picture was misleading.

This play was more of a cynical and humorous look of the world of sports television behind the scenes. In fact, THE WRESTLING (title of the television show that this play is about) is more along the lines of one of those reality TV shows that in all actuality has very real reality involved.

Everything is larger than life in the arena of THE WRESTLING. Complete with strobe lights and flash and live on-camera action, the show provides plenty of eye candy, successfully invoking the tacky glamour of the sports world. But not all is as it would seem. Chad Deity (Terence Archie), the star wrestler of the show and parody of Muhummad Ali at the height of his fame, in truth sucks as a wrestler, having the charisma and the body but no real ability. Macedonio Guerra (Desmin Brooks), a regular on the show, gets paid to lose all the matches for a living in order to make the “stars” like Chad Deity look good. When Vigneshwar Paduar, an Indian basketball player from Brooklyn, gets a job on THE WRESTLING, all bets are off as the status quo gets shaken up.

Michael T. Weiss plays Everett K. Olson, the money-hungry producer of THE WRESTLING who will stoop to anything, including exploiting racial stereotypes and stirring up political aggression, to boost up ratings and make money. Weiss plays the role with bombastic humor. I always get a kick out of seeing him play one of the bad guys after so many years of watching his heroic roles such as Mike Horton of DAYS OF OUR LIVES and Jarod of THE PRETENDER. By the by, Michael has a role in the upcoming film, SEX AND THE CITY 2.

The rest of the cast was brought to NYC from Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago and reeked of macho energy as well as excellent comic timing.

An edgy comedy reflecting on the absurdity of the age we live in…

First CLASS Review!

First review out about CLASS in NJ Star Ledger...with great things said about Thaao Penghlis' performance such as quoted below:

"And Thaao Penghlis excels as Elliot. He's handsome and charismatic, with one of the 12 best smiles you'll ever see. In "Sunset Boulevard," Norma Desmond says, "Great stars have great pride." The way Penghlis plays Elliot reminds us that non-stars can have it, too. When he glances out the window and sees the paparazzi and fans lusting for Sarah, the look he gives contains a good deal of scorn -- but substantially more envy."

THE BAY, from Gregori J. Martin, goes into production next month. Stay tuned!

Break a Leg, Thaao!

Tonight is the much anticipated sold-out opening night of CLASS at Cape May Stage.  Here is yet another article about it on  We've had plenty of Thaao Penghlis and CLASS saturation here on the Diva blog, but we also have plenty of readers here who have keen interest in Thaao's first theatrical appearance since the crictically-acclaimed off-Broadway play of "Jockeys" back before Thaao even played a Cassadine on GH.

A fond shout-out of "break a leg!" to Thaao, Heather Matarazzo, Roy Steinberg, Chris Evered and Cape May Stage!

Philece Sampler Interview

An awesome interview I found of Philece Sampler (ex-Renee, DAYS) who is now famous as one of the most in-demand voice artists of the anime genre. First internet interview I've ever heard her do, so if you like her work, give it a listen! She doesn't make any mention about DAYS or Renee, but fascinating to listen to nonetheless.

Thaao CLASS segment on

Here is a clip of Thaao Penglis in action rehearsing for his new role of CLASS, along with a small sound bite.

Ken Corday Book Review

I am sure that most regular readers of this blog expect me to blast this book every which way from Sunday, but I do want to be fair.

There were some parts that I found entertaining and interesting. I enjoyed reading about how Ted and Betty Corday first created “Days of Our Lives”. I loved the backstage stories such as Bill and Susan Hayes’ long on-screen kiss after the cameras stopped rolling before they announced their real-life marriage. I was horrified about poor Andrew Masset who played the character of Larry Welch so well that he was getting hate mail from a psychopathic convict. I even liked the silly ghost stories of MacDonald Carey haunting the set (like he doesn’t have better things to do out there in the Great Beyond). These are some of the “tell-all” stories that I wanted to read more of. After all, the title is “The Untold History of Days of Our Lives”, right?

Um, well, that’s what I thought it was about.

My main complaint is that Ken doesn’t know his audience. The people who spend money on this book want to read about “Days of Our Lives”, not “The Untold History of Ken Corday”. Often, especially in the first half of the book, Ken would go off on long descriptions of subjects such as a much-too-researched genealogical history of the Corday family, his love of music, his childhood friends, his family homes and his rock band. With all due respect, I’m not sure too many people particularly care about this stuff…and if any DAYS actors and crew say so…well, a job’s hard to come by nowadays.

That being said, the book does enforce the idea of a human being behind that grinning executive we all know as Ken Corday. Several times, I sympathized with his plight. His father, Ted Corday, tragically passed away only one year after “Days of Our Lives” premiered. His mother, Betty Corday, never really got over the loss and succumbed to alcoholism. Of course, the most devastating tale was when Ken’s brother, Chris, became lost in the throes of manic depression and ultimately took his own life. Unsure if he was making the right decision, Ken took on his parents’ legacy for better or worse, determined to keep the show alive. I can appreciate all of the personal ordeals he has endured in his life.

If only Mr. Corday hadn’t thoroughly pissed me off in the second half of the book…

The chapters I find most offensive are about the “Hourglass Ladies”, the “Magnificent Seven” and the “Dirtiest Half Dozen”. Basically, you can just call these chapters “Kenny’s Favorite Picks, Parts 1, 2 and 3.” Why did he feel the need to put a fraction of the actors on a pedestal, favoring them with trite poetic descriptions and anecdotes accompanied with unnecessary character synopses…only to not-so-subtly shun others? Until this point, I wasn’t particularly enthralled with the book, but at least I wasn’t annoyed.

I have included a passage of such below because you truly have to read it to believe it:

“So there they are…the magnificent nine, The Hourglass Ladies.

If Days of our Lives were to wear this bejeweled crown for real, Frances Reid (Alice) would be the diamond. Susan Hayes (Julie) would be the emerald; Suzanne Rogers (Maggie), the ruby; and Peggy McCay (Caroline), the pearl. Kristian Alfonso (Hope) would be the sapphire; Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), the pink sapphire; Deidre Hall (Marlena), the yellow diamond; and Renee Jones (Lexie Carver), the alexandrite. And Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) would be the pink diamond. What a perfect crown for our show! And beyond value…priceless.”

Apparently, Deidre Hall and Mary Beth Evans, the afore-mentioned yellow diamond and pink sapphire, came at too damned high a price to stay in the Days of Our Lives crown, but I digress…

I could have done with less flowery nonsense like this to have just a paragraph or two acknowledging some of the award-winning and acclaimed actors on the show who apparently didn’t make the cut of Kenny’s Favorite Picks. Actors like…oh, say, Melissa Reeves, Matthew Ashford, Charles Shaughnessy, Patricia Pease, Thaao Penghlis and Leann Hunley, just to name a few. Apparently, Missy, Charles and Patsy are good enough to be asked to return for the Frances Reid tribute, but not quite high status enough to make Kenny’s book. Ken’s happy to give Leann a shoutout as part of the many returns who have “reinvigorated Salem” with the reinvention which apparently is making the show the best thing since sliced bread today (I must have missed the memo about that one), but someone still forgot to give Emmy Winner Leann Hunley that pesky little contract. Matthew Ashford, who had so much acclaim as Jack Deveraux back in the heyday, barely rates a mention besides that he apparently has unusual taste in clothing at parties. And as for Thaao? Well, even Kenny can’t keep the characters of Tony and Andre Dimera straight since he said (regarding the Salem Serial Killer storyline) that “in the end, Tony Dimera would be revealed as the real one behind not only his own death but also those of the rest of the characters.” Speaking of Andre Dimera (I’m sure that’s who Ken really meant in that last sentence), that character was known as both the “Salem Slasher” and the “Salem Serial Killer Mastermind” but didn’t make Kenny’s Favorite Picks as one of the great DAYS villains. What does that tell you?

Also, too many times, Ken seems to be spreading mea culpas around that only serve to satisfy himself. He’s sorry if he ever disappointed but…well, he kinda really wanted to be in a rock band. He was sorry he let James E. Reilly write the most ludicrous and over-the-top storyline of all time, the Salem Serial Killer and Melaswen story, which nearly killed the soap opera itself but…well, NBC and Sony made him take that crazy PASSIONS writer back. He was sorry that the recession made him fire Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans but…hey, he at least mentioned them in his favorite picks chapters, right?

For Ken Corday, I’m inclined to use that much-quoted phrase, “Don’t Quit Your Day Job”…but…oh, well…never mind.

I wish Ken the best of luck promoting his book at the NBC Studio Store later this month. I’d go see him and get an autographed copy, but it turns out that I’ve got a fan luncheon to go to instead. After all, that was then and this is now, right?

Martha Madison interview ready for download

Martha speaks for the first time about her role on "Reality Bytes."

You can listen to the show right here from our blog by pressing play on the right.  Or go to our show page.

"The woman is not too bright, not a big jump from there."

You can say that again.

Very bizarre eppy today with all the "all is not what it seems" elements to it.

Nicole/Dicky Baker.  Nicole threatens to go to the police with the info on Baker being behind the muggings.  Baker lets it slip that a woman is involved.  After catching Brianna smooching at the Salem PD (seriously, who doesn't make out at a police station and discuss relationship issues) Nicole decides to go to Plan B which is to frame Arianna for the muggings.

No-tell motel manager/Daniel/Carly/Chloe/Viv.  Manager denies any knowledge of Chloe's accusations.  He plants it into Daniel's head that Chloe is cuckoo for Coco Puffs.  Chloe overhears Daniel to Carly that he doesn't believe her.  Vivian joins her at the Brady Pub for the Carly Manning cheerleader convention.

Maggie/Victor/Vivian.  Victor rudely dismisses Vivian out of Maggie's hospital room.  Wow.  Two women kind of fighting over Victor, who would have thunk it?  Victor is Maggie's new bff.  He has her back, awwwwwwwww.  They are just too cute.

Roman sighting!  He was on for a few seconds to question Brady about the Whacker.

Bizarro Hope/Carly.  Bizarro Hope forgives Carly to her face for being a homewrecker.  Carly doesn't buy it.  Hope is putting the blame squarely on Bo.

Bizarro Hope/Dicky Baker.  Hope wants out of their partnership.  Then Nicole calls Baker.

Somewhat of a boring episode really.  Ari Zucker still rocks.  Nicole is such an interesting character.  I really enjoyed her scenes with John Callahan.  I'm still loving Victor and Maggie.  The whole phony Carly/Daniel/Chloe triangle is boring.  *yawn*  Bizarro Hope is still interesting so far.  Poor Ciara!  She got left home alone!

"I always make it a point to confuse people."

"This is the worst internet porn I've ever seen."

Monday's eppy dragged a bit.

Will/EJami/Stefano.  Will nails Sami on the head when he points out to her that she can't go two seconds without a man.  He asks her if she's with Safe or Ejami.  Will also gets on her for lying.  Good for him.  Stefano tells EJ he will take care of "William" for him.  Sami tells EJ he is the father of two of her kids, and that's it.

Anna/Calliope.  Anna gets suspicious of Calliope.  Calliope lies that Eugene left her for a belly dancer. lol  Anna passes out before naming her co-conspirator.  Rafe does nothing but watch.  Maybe he should be reading the Diva blog instead.  lol

Brady/Arianna.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  Brady wants to try and capture the Salem Whacker alone.  Ari wants to help.  We get the same tired dialogue we normally get with Bo/Hope when the man wants to do something dangerous which is too dangerous for his woman.  blah blah blah  Neanderthal much?  Ari was in prison for crying out loud.  Ari complains about Nicole trying to manipulate her into thinking that Nicole and Brady are doing it.  Brady tells Ari to believe him not Nicole.

Melanie/Nathan/Stephanie.  Not much going on here.  Nathan tells Mel to not interfere with his relationship with Steph.  Steph again throws her birth control pills away in the river this time.  What a dumb ass.

Nicole/Charlie/Dr. Baker.  Nicole kicks ass at poker.  Charlie another player, gives her Brady's money clip.  Nicole reveals she's a reporter and wants to know who gave him the clip.  Nicole waits at the poker room while Tricky Dicky Baker shows up.

Hope/Ciara.  Hope crawls into bed with Ciara. She takes her happy pills.  Not much going on here.  Hope's pajamas are super cute, btw.

Maggie/Victor/Melanie.  Victor takes Maggie to the hospital.  She seems to be fine.  Melanie is touched by Victor's concern for Maggie.  Once again, Mel unloads her baggage on another patient at the hospital.  Poor Maggie.  Melanie sees Victor in a new light.  Victor tells her that, "I always make it a point to confuse people."  lol  Line of the day!

Pretty blah.  Calliope is still funny.  Rafe, Arianna, and Brady are still boring.  Stephanie is still stupid.  Melanie is still dumping on people.  Nicole has the Salem brain.  Nathan's still a pig.  Sami's still ping ponging between two men.

Victor and Maggie are looking like a great couple.

You can watch "Life in General" here.

"You should have taken the silver."

Fridays's eppy was very good in spite of Rafe ruining a wonderful friendship.

Melanie/Rae the bag lady/Nathan.  Rae for some inexplicable reason, shows up at the hospital with Stephanie's birth control pills.  Melanie spies them and confiscates them.  Nathan wheels Rae out of there for X-rays.  What exactly was Rae planning to do with bc pills?  Did she think it was Midol?

Stephanie/Nathan/Maggie.  Maggie comments on Stephanie "glowing."  Stephanie later is confronted by Melanie over the pills.  I actually like watching Mel/Stephanie fight.  I'm glad Stephanie got caught.  The last thing this stupid quad needs is a baby thrown into the mix.

Victor/Brady/Maggie/Mel.  Victor announces to the almost fully exposed chest of Brady that he is going to cooperate with the police to try and catch the Whacker.  Maggie is impressed with Victor's grandfatherly love of Brady.  Mel comes in later and starts tattling to Brady about Stephanie.  Man, if they really want to get rid of overcrowding at the hospital, just have Melanie go around and tell her problems to all the patients.  They'll gladly leave.  I do like the friendship chemistry of Brady/Melanie.

Ejami. HOT HOT HOT  Very sexy bantering between these two.  EJ eventually convinces Sami to go swimming with him and Johnny.  Sami is reluctant to get into her bikini.  Come on Sami!  It's EJ.  Go skinny dipping!  lol  Forget the suits!  Johnny goes swimming for ten seconds, then gets sent off to get dried off by Mary.  Lucky Sami.  Now she has a built in nanny/housekeeper.  Hey, she doesn't need a job, she doesn't need to raise her kids, and she doesn't have to clean.  When can I move into the DiMansion?  Anyway, Sami and EJ are about an inch away from first base.

Anna/Calliope/Rafe.  Drunken Anna is being prodded by Calliope to recount the Sydnapping.  Arleen Sorkin is flipping hysterical.  Calliope tells Anna that she "should have taken the silver."  Arleen Sorkin did such a great job delivering her line that Leann Hunley clearly started laughing before she recovered herself.  lol  Their scenes kept getting ruined by cutting to Rafe listening in.  No one gives a shit about him.  Go away!

Maggie/Victor.  I'm impressed by the chemistry between the Greek tycoon and the soon to be matriarch of the Horton family.  Victor seems interested in her.  Maggie seems uncomfortable in a romantic way in his presence.  Maggie asks Victor to take her home.  He does as the gentleman that he is.  They go inside to discuss Melanie and Philip.  Maggie tells Victor that Philip and Melanie are not happy with his engagement to Viv.  She put the idea in my head, and probably Victor's, that maybe Victor should marry someone that both Mel and Phil both like.  You know, like Maggie.  lol  Maggie's hand starts to shake, she passes out in Victor's arms.  So romantic!

Other than Rafe, Friday is a must see eppy.  You know what would be awesome?  Since Rafe has spied on and interrogated pretty much everyone in Salem, that usually leads to a good, old fashioned murder mystery.  Yes, it is time for Rafe to die.  There's plenty of suspects.  Make it happen baby!

Thaao's interview in this week's SOD

Of course, I encourage everyone to go out and buy it, especially the EJami fans since James Scott and Alison Sweeney got the cover.  If you can't wait to read what Thaao has to say, you can read it here.  Go to the What's New page.

5/6/10 review - Someone Get Me a Midol!

Stefano/Kate/Madeline/Chad – Kate and Madeline freak out when Chad sees an old picture of the two of them together. So far I’m just not into this story. It is just too freakin’ predictable that this is all a set-up to make Chad a Dimera. Even Stevie Wonder can see this one coming! I don’t even want Chad as a Dimera cuz quite frankly, he’s not cool enough to be one. Also, I suppose this is a set-up to give the much-acclaimed Jessica Tuck a storyline, but other than watching her constantly play the one-note uptight neurotic bee-yatch, I don’t really see what the big deal is with her either. Meh.

Arianna/Gaby – Apparently Arianna was a PMSing shrew today around Gaby, but once she did that Midol commercial, she was okay.

EJ/Sami/Will – I am happy that DAYS is finally giving EJ and Sami a chance to get closer again. Loved the scene where they strike a deal to make Kate miserable. I enjoy it when they scheme together because I’m in the camp that wants Sami to be the bad girl again. I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again. She is simply not interesting as Marlena Lite. That is not what made Sami and Ali Sweeney popular in the first place. Now I’m ready for more EJAMI Hawtness. As for Will, it’s a shame he’s too old to be shipped off to boarding school again because he’s getting on my last nerve.

Anna/Calliope – I love seeing Arleen Sorkin back. I love seeing Leann Hunley back. I love seeing the old Anna/Calliope friendship back. I love Calliope’s one liners and comedy. Love it, love it, love it. But I am truly starting to HATE Rafe…which leads me to…

Rafe - If Rafe’s blackmail of Calliope is supposed to be a funny twist, I don’t find it amusing at all. All of the time we are having to listen to Rafe pontificate about how evil EJ and Stefano are, but his actions are not much better. I don’t know if it’s how the directors want Rafe played or if it’s Galen Gering’s choice as an actor, but I am so sick of the constant arrogant smirk and the bullying…with Calliope and Anna and Sami and EJ and with, well, pretty much everyone who he has a scene with. I’ve never found SAFE to be an interesting couple; and I’ve never heard a compelling reason from their fan base as to why they like the couple so much except that Rafe isn’t that nasty raping EJ Dimera. He says he’s doing all this to avenge Sami for the kidnapping. Has anyone ever clued him in that Sami tried to sell Belle on the black market and raped Austin and forged hospital records – that in her past, she has done a lot more reprehensible things than Anna Dimera ever thought of doing? And lastly, why does Rafe and Galen Gering rate so much glory and airtime? Rafe Hernandez has truly become the Victor Newman of DAYS, getting his way in every situation, being a key player in every scene and always coming out smelling like a rose. The difference is Eric Braeden served many years on Y&R for the character of Victor to earn such an exalted position. What is Galen’s claim to fame other than he has PASSIONS and VENICE on his resume?

Rest in Peace Sun and Jin

Wow.  What a tearjerker!  Tuesday's Lost eppy was definitely one of the best episodes this year.

First with the somewhat boring Sideways stuff.  I was getting into the Sideways stuff because I thought it was leading to some "coming together" moment with all the characters.  Instead it is meandering again.  I loved the Jack/Locke stuff, imho those two are the supercouple of the show.  Jack saves Locke's life.  He wants to perform surgery to fix Locke's paralysis.  Locke isn't interested.  Jack discovers later from Bernard (!) that Locke and his father were involved in a plane crash that was caused by pilot Locke's error.  Anthony Cooper is basically brain dead.  Locke refuses to get the surgery so he can hang onto the guilt of what happened to his father.  There were a few neat details to this story.  Locke remembers pushing the button in his dreams.  He also mentioned the line in his suicide note that he wished Jack would have believed him.  Jack overheard Locke's sleep talking.  Jack uses the "I wish  you would believe me" line to Locke later.  It obviously struck a memory with Locke, who paused before wheeling away.  So what was the point of Des hitting Locke in the car?  If he wanted Locke/Smokey dead, that didn't work.  If he wanted Locke and Jack to have the island epiphany, that really didn't work either.  This Sideways story ended up being a disappointment considering there's only a few eppies left.  A lot of code words being used by Jack, "what happened, happened," "candidate," and "I wish you would believe me."  Funny how Jack said Locke was a candidate, well he was until Ben killed him.

Claire finds Jack.  She wants to know what is the significance of the box her dad bequeathed to her.  Jack didn't have a clue.  It was a music box with a mirror.  They both saw each other's reflections, but again, no conscious connection was made.

Back to the real action!  Widmore orders the Losties to be put in the bear cage.  Sawyer pulls a gun on the "doughboy".  Widmore threatens to kill Kate if Sawyer doesn't cooperate.  Widmore mentions that Kate is not on the list.  Sawyer knows that he's right, and gives up the gun.  I still don't get why Kate isn't a candidate.  She's alive.  Funny how the Skate bear cage scrump didn't warrant a flashback.  Sayid, Jack, and Flocke rescue the Losties.  I don't get how the barrier works on the beach, they turned it off for Sun and Jin to hug.  Yet it's not on around the plane, the thing that Flocke said he wanted.  Flocke and the gang go to the plane.  He finds explosives with very obvious dangling wires in the overhead compartment.  Doc Jensen thinks that Widmore is in cahoots with Flocke, and thus left the explosives there for Flocke to kill the candidates.  But, we haven't seen Richard, Ben, and Miles in a few eppies, they wanted to blow up the plane.

So, everyone heads to the sub.   Flocke switches backpacks with Jack.  Kate gets shot.  Jack pushes Flocke into the water while everyone but Claire gets into the sub because Sawyer closes the door to prevent Smokey from boarding.  While tending to Kate's gunshot, Jack discovers the bomb.  Lapidus tries to get the sub to go back to the surface.  Jack and Sawyer fight over the bomb.  Sayid says it can be disarmed by pulling two wires simultaneously.  Sawyer doesn't trust Jack's faith when he says that Flocke can't kill them, only they can kill each other.  Nice to see that Jack is figuring things out, it's kind of obvious that he's the candidate since he is the only one who wants and understands the job.  Sawyer pulls the wires.  This sequence is very reminiscent of Juliet's death and jughead's detonation.  For a few seconds, the timer stops, then speeds up.  Sayid tells Jack basically that he's the candidate, and he needs Des in the well.  Sayid runs off with the bomb, and dies heroically.  Chaos ensues.  Lapidus appears to be hit by a door and dies.  Hurley and Kate swim ashore.  Sawyer, Jin, and Jack free Sun from a cabinet, yet somehow she's pinned to the sub with pipes.  Even with rewatching this scene, you can't figure out how this is even possible.  Sawyer gets knocked out.  After some protesting, Jack leaves with Sawyer.  Jin still tries to save Sun.  Sun accepts her fate, and wants Jin to leave.  Jin stays so they can die together.  *sob*  We see their clasped hands unclasp as they die.  *tears*

Jack and Sawyer show up at the beach.  Sawyer is still knocked out.   Jack shakes his head no at the question about the fate of the Kwons.  I lost it when Hurley started sobbing.  Great acting by Jorge Garcia.  Kate hugs Jack.  Jack goes into the ocean with his anger and grief.

Flocke knows somehow that the sub is sunk.  He knows there's survivors.  He's pissed and is ready to kill them.  Claire is stunned.  I think Claire can get redeemed.  I think she's getting a clue that Flocke wants them all dead.

Next week's eppy seems to be about Smokey from the beginning.  You can see the preview at  I believe this is the eppy that some fans have been complaining about because there's no regular cast members in it.

So we got some answers today.  Flocke doesn't need the potential candidates to leave with him to get off the island.  He just needs them dead.  He tricked them into thinking that they could leave with him.  Jack and Claire are getting close to the truth.  But, Sawyer the wild card doesn't know what he needs to know.  My prediction, Jack's the candidate and the lone survivor.  Everyone on the island dies.  I think Jack will use Des to either kill Smokey or to capture him.  The dead move on to the Sideways world.  Just my guess.  lol

The Biggest Loser

Yes they went there. Just surprised they didn't have Sami calling Nicole The Biggest Loser instead of Gabby.

Nicole/Gabby/Arianna/Brady The Diva says Gabby was The Biggest Loser in her confrontation with Nicole. "I'm Nicole DiMera I'm never done" Gabby go back to your teen friends and stop messing with the big girls. Gabby is giving Nicole grief about messing with Brady and telling her to stop. Basically Nicole puts her in her place. Arianna is looking for Brady who was just knocked on the head by nighttime Hope. He stumbles into the Brady Pub just in time for Nicole to play the heroine.

Nighttime Hope/Dr Baker They pick on Brady this time and Nighttime Hope leaves her mark on his chest. Great chest BTW. Anyway Dr Baker steals Brady's money clip and loses it in a poker game. Nighttime Hope returns home goes to bed and Daytime Hope wakes up with a memory of Brady and his chest.

Chloe/Carly/Daniel/Philip/Melanie Chloe rips Carly a new one and poor poor Carly just doesn't know why. Have to give credit to Viv for fooling Chloe and making her seem paranoid. Daniel walks in and demands to know what is going on. Carly leaves and Chloe tells Daniel the whole story about the nurse and the hotel guy saying him and Carly had an affair. They run into the hotel guy and he denies even knowing Chloe. Chloe is really losing it now thinking Daniel doesn't believe her. Would you? Meanwhile Philip is feeling very guilty about screwing Chloe and is telling Melanie they shouldn't visit her dad and Chloe for now. Melanie overhears Philip telling Chloe not to do anything rash with Carly. Melanie wants to know why? He tells her that Chloe has been confiding in him and tells her the whole Chloe can't have a baby thing. Melanie believes everything and Philip is off the hook for now.

Nathan/Stefanie She is doing the I am going to trap him into loving me by getting pregnant. ZZZZZZ. These two just bore me to death. Homeless lady finds her pills. I don't think she needs them. I'm sure someone is going to find out what she did. My bet is on Melanie.

Roman sighting! He accuses Nicole of knocking out Brady. Of course the super cop is wrong as usual as Gabby knows she was with her the whole time. Nicole accuses Arianna of the crime.

Anna/Calliope sighting! Yes we get them both tomorrow! This should fun!

FancyFace Picks of the Week 4/26 to 4/30

Sorry for the hiatus from "PICKS OF THE WEEK".  Add these new Blogtalkradio interviews to real life...and I get crazy busy.

WINNERS OF THE WEEK:  EJ/Sami.  I don't care about RoboCop Rafe with his six-pack of abs.  EJAMI is still HAWT FIRE whenever they are together!

LOSER OF THE WEEK:  Mia McCormack.  After stringing along Will and Chad for months, she's now got nothing.  Add that to the fact that her character will soon be out of Salem for good...and I'd say that's the definition of "loser".

PERFORMER OF THE WEEK:  Kristian Alfonso.  Even thought this whole double identity thing (whether its through possession, brain chips, multiple personality disorder or bad pills) is a storyline that's been done to death, it is nice to see Kristian in a front burner storyline with that sparkle in her eyes again.  I'm just ready for Hope to whack Bo a good one since we all know he's the guy she's really pissed off at.
