Rape is Rape

This is about real life, not DOOL. Just curious if anyone else thinks this is rape when Whoopi Goldberg insisted that it wasn't "rape rape." What's wrong with these people? This is what Roman Polanski did.

Here's an article about the rapist's enablers.

Diva's DWTS Picks - Week 2

Last week, justice was served with Macy Gray’s elimination. I thought Mr. Hamilton could have shown improvement if he had the chance.

A lot of dances on Monday night…and not much time for a busy Diva. So I’ll just do it like the DAYS pix.

FAVORITE DANCE OF THE WEEK: I’m not really a fan yet, but Aaron Carter and Karina’s dance gets an A+ for the fun factor. Just so crazy that it worked.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTIMENT OF THE WEEK: Kelly Osbourne is freaking out so much that she’s losing her groove. Hopefully, this is just a bad week and not a sign of things to come.

STILL MY CRUSH OF THE WEEK: I can’t help it. I fucking still love Donny Osmond for the charisma factor alone. And he came in 3rd with the judges!!!

MOST OBVIOUS BAZ LUHRMAN TRIBUTE OF THE WEEK: I’m sorry. That tango of Debi Mazar’s was too blatantly kissing up to the guest judge. I thought I saw more mistakes than the judges did. And if Maks is already driving Debi to tears, this does not bode well.

MOST IMPROVED OF THE WEEK: Melissa Joan Hart. She should have got a higher score than she did.

PREDICTION OF THE TROPHY WINNER: This week, I’d say it’s a tie between Aaron Carter and Mya. I’ll be shocked if these two don’t go to the finals.

PREDICTION OF TONIGHT’S ELIMINATION: Tom Delay’s already been injured twice now. Let’s get the guy off the stage before he disables himself too badly. Buh-bye!

WTH happened to Lawrence Alamain?

What happened to the dashing and suave Laurence Alamain I remember? Even though he was a rapist psychopath, he still combed his hair every day. I didn't even recognize him in this spoiler pic. Did he lose the Alamain fortune and become a homeless guy or what?

The Diva wasted an entire hour of her life today watching DOOL.

I don't know what is worse, the acting or the writing. Let's keep score.

The acting is worse.
1. Taylor Spreitler. Wow. She was awful today. I hate to pick on a teenager, but she's no Kirsten Alderson. I'm glad she's growing out her bangs though.

2. Shawn Christian. He needs to cut back on the sun-in in his hair. Seriously, I used that when I was fifteen. Daniel being upset that Victor didn't bless his engagement was silly. For Pete's sake, Chloe cheated on Brady with his uncle Philip. Chloe slept with 2 Kiriakises, of course Victor is going to call her a whore.

3. Nadia Bjorlin. Her acting wasn't that bad today, but more on her later.

4. That chick playing Meredith. She has to be one of the worst actors to ever play a psycho. Most actors relish playing a role like that. She's just awful. I'm hoping her plan works. Kill Rafe quickly, not slowly like she wants, then kill herself. Sounds like a good plan to me!

5. Galen Gering. He was actually funny today he was so bad.

The bad writing was worse.

1. Ej and Nicole's 10,000th fight over her lying. It was unwatchable really. I did like the curtains in the background though.

2. Meredith and Rafe's dialogue. So awful. I still don't get why she thinks Rafe killed her sister on purpose, nor do I care. She needs to get a fucking life.

3. Chloe being pimped by a Priest. Seriously, do the writers think we'll start liking Danloe because a tv priest told us to? Stop it already. If they used these scenes to make fun of Chloe, I would be on board with it. That would have been funny. Instead they are demeaning the church. I don't think Danloe is "meant to be." I'm sure the Phloe and Broe fans don't think so either.

So it's 5 to 3 in favor of bad acting. Bad acting wins, but we all lose by watching this crap.

Some good stuff happened today. Victor calling Chloe a "whore" was priceless. That never gets old. Mia finally tells the truth to Will. Will blabs to his mom the entire story. Chad finds out the truth about his daughter. Finally, this story is going somewhere!

What did you guys think of today's eppy?

Julie Pinson Cares

Julie Pinson (Janet, ATWT; ex-Billie Reed, DAYS) was at the Celebrity Table this year at the 2009 Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids Flea Market in New York City yesterday. She told me that she was so proud and happy for her ex-co-star, Peter Reckell, for getting that Emmy nom this last year. She's very friendly and cool, nothing like Janet or Billie. I can bitch about DAYS much better than I can take the photo above is obviously courtesy of GettyImages.

Diva blogtalkradio show tonight!

The Diva and her dastardly friends will be at it again tonight, 11 pm est to 11:45. The ladies are so opinionated, that we extended the show by 15 minutes.

Diva Picks - 9/21 to 9/25

WINNER OF THE WEEK: STEFANO. Congrats to Steffy for his rip-roaring wedding where the champagne flowed (courtesy of little Theo Carver) and for getting laid! But I think he’s already discovering that his new sons-in-law are going to prove to be monumental pains in the ass.

LOSER OF THE WEEK: CHLOE. For a while, I admit I thought it was nice to see a couple reunite and be happy in love, especially after witnessing the brutal BOPE argument in the same eppy. But then Chloe began blathering on about if it was okay with God if she reunited with Daniel. Like God doesn’t have better things to do! And then after being in bed with her Hunkahunkaburninglove, she starts whining about Lucas. She truly doesn’t seem to know what to do with herself besides whine about something, even when reunited with her lover. Damn, Kate, why couldn’t you finish the job you started?

SCENES OF THE WEEK: Some pretty good stuff this week so it’s hard for me to pick a stand-out. The BOPE fight was intense. Kate sweeping Stefano’s chess pieces to the ground was a pretty cool moment…and she even lived to tell the tale! Kate’s pre-wedding scenes with Phillip and Victor were great. Kate’s post-wedding scene with Daniel was good. The wedding was fun. There was a little LUMI for old times’ sake before Lucas gets shipped off to rehab. Even Lucas’ scene with Loser Chloe was good. The scene with Phillip and Stefano the morning after was cool. And EJ’s reaction to Stefano’s marriage was priceless.

PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: LAUREN KOSLOW. I know I’m sounding like a broken record, but she rocked the week again.

ZINGERS OF THE WEEK: VICTOR. Pretty much every sentence he uttered during the Wednesday episode. My favorite was his line to Stefano before the wedding. “Well, keeping her out of jail works well for you too, huh? You wouldn’t want to consummate the marriage in the conjugal visitation trailer? Ugh!”

MOST MANUFACTURED RELATIONSHIP OF THE WEEK: SAMI and BRADY. Okay, it’s bad enough that all the sudden they’re the best of siblings when they always hated each other before. It’s bad enough that Brady’s had a lobotomy and thinks he’s her older brother. But now they’re just getting closer and closer…so there’s obviously going to be some nasty Sami/Brady fallout that we’re going to have to stay awake through because he kept the truth of Nicole’s secret from Sami all this time. This is as contrived as the stupid Sami/Nicole “friendship”. Why not write the plot according to the characters instead of changing the characters to fit the plot?

American Gothic-Salem Style

American Gothic:

American Gothic-DiMera Style:

He Had it Coming

Lately, spoilers have been swarming about regarding Lawrence Alamain’s return to DAYS. According to TV Guide, Sabatino’s return will be brief and involving a series of flashbacks. There’s also been word out that perhaps he has been murdered, thus the reason Carly runs to Bo for help and enters our lives once more. I especially appreciated Sabatino’s statement that it made no sense for Carly to run away with Lawrence in the end.

It took DAYS only about 16 years or so…but finally the villainous Lawrence is going to get some payback. Aside from being the real reason that Steve Johnson disappeared all of those years ago (despite the rewritten history that it was all yet another Dimera plot), Alamain’s most heinous crime for most viewers was the rape of Jennifer Horton when she was pretending to be his long-lost fiancĂ©e, Princess Katarina Von Leuschner aka Carly Manning.

For the most part, Jennifer’s rape storyline was a set-up for more angst and agony in the Jack/Jennifer storyline. Perhaps in an effort to make the romance more acceptable for the viewers, Jack Deveraux was forced to see the effects of rape upon the woman that he loved and to deal with his own past sin of raping Kayla several years before. This served as an interesting redemption storyline for Jack and made for good TV.

However, in the case of Lawrence Alamain, he had no real motivation for attacking Jennifer. He was merely a spoiled wealthy aristocrat who didn’t like being made a fool of. Never once did he show anything close to remorse for his crime or even acknowledge there was a crime. And ultimately, he was reunited with his Katarina, riding off into the sunset with their kid, getting the girl in the end when he so didn’t deserve it. So if any of DAYS’ long list of Salem rapists have it coming, it’s Alamain.

This all makes me ask: What makes some rapist characters redeemable and/or forgiven while others are not?

For some crazy reason, there were rapes galore in many movies, TV shows and novels of the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s. For better or worse, the lines between romance and rape were invariably muddied in soap operas. Even Bill, one of the sainted Horton clan, raped Laura during these crazy times, all part of their romance. And of course, there was Luke and that other Laura of GH that are the most infamous and historical couple where this topic is concerned. GH fans often say that their romance was “complex”, etc. Well, I’ve seen the clip on YT…and not really. Laura clearly said no, and Luke clearly didn’t listen. After the deed was done, Laura looked roughed up and upset. This was not a seduction where she said no but really meant yes. Anyhow, she ended up going on the run with the guy and having the highest-rated wedding with him in soap opera history. I don’t really blame L/L though. They were truly a product of their time. In the 1990s, once soaps recognized that rape was no joke, GH tried to make the L/L story a little more PC (politically correct, not Port Charles) by having their son Lucky find out about it, leading to much discussion and several self-damning mea culpas from Luke (earning actor Tony Geary a few of his ten million Daytime Emmy awards). The fact is a lot of 1980s soap rapists should almost get official pardons for simply being products of the insanity of their time. However, since Lawrence Alamain committed his crime in the 1990s, he gets no such free pass. So that leads to my next point…

The “charismatic actor/character” factor. The afore-mentioned Luke of GH, Todd Manning of OLTL, Tony Dimera, Jack Deveraux, Stephen Johnson (not an actual rapist but certainly gave it his best shot at raping Hope during the Miami storyline in 1985) and EJ Dimera of DAYS. All of these are characters that had been bad guy rapists but struck a chord with viewers, usually due to handsome looks and great acting…and the amoral television networks were not about to sacrifice their cash cows for the sake of some elusive and unprofitable higher moral ground. This gives viewers a nasty choice: either see the characters pay for their crimes, thus being killed off or sent to jail, abolishing them from their respective soaps forever…or just try to ignore what they’ve done, claim they are redeemed, or write the shows off as merely fiction, swallowing collective pride for the sake of seeing the favorite eye candy of choice back on the screen again. I admit I’ve been guilty a few times for that. It’s not that I have a thing for rapists. I assure you, Duke Johnson, Paul Mendez and Curtis Reed did nothing for me. However, I do believe that Lawrence Alamain was one of those charismatic cash cow characters.

Add to that the fact that Michael Sabatino and Crystal Chappell had great chemistry together (both on and off the screen). This is another reason why viewers overlook rape storylines which prevails to this day. Actor chemistry. EJAMI and OLTL’s Todd and Marti are two of such cases which have happened in recent years, so we can’t even use the 1980s Rape Insanity clause as an excuse. Therefore in the case of Lawrence and Carly, viewers turned blind eyes as Carly ran off into the sunset with the man who raped her best friend.

Still I have to say that much as I liked Carly and Lawrence as a couple and as much as I like Michael Sabatino as an actor, I am kind of relieved to see one of these bad guy rapist characters finally get what’s coming to him for a change.

Disclaimer: This blog is only about rape when it comes to fiction and soap operas. In no way do I condone rape in real life. This is only meant to serve as a topic of discussion where soaps are concerned. No offense meant to anyone.

Ladie's Night on DWTS, Week One

Is it me or do the DWTS premiere weeks become more exhausting to watch each season?

Debi Mazar – The thing is it’s hard to watch Debi when Maksim is flashing that chest everywhere. While he’s a hottie, choreographing dances to make his partners look good is not Maks’ strong suit. His partners either have chemistry with them or they don’t. He does best with sexy dominatrix types who have large egos to match his. Leila Ali and Mel B come to mind. Mazar just doesn’t have what it takes to be his partner and it will be her downfall.

Melissa Joan Hart – Middle of the road. Not hopeless but a long shot.

Mya – Okay, I’m sorry but Len seriously screwed her over with a “5”. He penalized her by three points or so because of that “3 bar proper waltz” fetish of his…but Kelly Osborne got a lift and only lost one point. Truly unfair. But I have a feeling she’s going to have the last laugh.

Kathy Ireland – Too tall for Tony…and that’s really tall! Awkward and repressed. Won’t last long.

Natalie Coughlin – Her asset is that she’s one of those damned sports medalists who always end up winning. She has slinky moves, but needs to get her raunch on.

Macy Gray – This one pisses me off. The judges were way too nice to her talking about her “eccentric style”. If she couldn’t clear her schedule enough to commit to dance for the show, she shouldn’t have signed up for it. Period. Hey, I love her song “I Try”, but her dancing sucks; and she’s the female Master P. I hope she’s one of the first ones to go. And she seems to want to go. So let’s all be happy and boot her off the island.

Joanna Krupa – One of those sexy beautiful models that can dance like no one’s business. And THANK YOU, Joanna, for putting the sexy back into the salsa! I thought the show was renamed DANCING IN THE CONVENT.

Kelly Osborne – The surprise of the evening. I’ll admit it. I shook my head and said “Ugh” when I first heard she would be in the lineup, but I’ve grown to like her very fast. Her partner, Louis Van Amstel (Lisa Rinna’s former partner), is one of the best for making his partners look good. And with Kelly, he's been a fucking miracle worker.

Predictions for Week 1:

The ones to beat: Aaron Carter, Mark Dacascos, Donny Osmond, Mya, Joanna Krupa, Kelly Osborne

The ones that need to go NOW!: Chuck Lidell, Tom Delay, Macy Gray

Until next week...

Our next show

The Diva and the Usual Suspects will have their third blogtalkradio show this Saturday from 11 to 11:45 pm. We talk so much, that we decided to extend the show to 45 minutes. Feel free to call in and discuss DOOL with the Diva and friends. Also we have a chat room for the less brave! Our shows are archived. You can find our page at the link on the right.

The Biggest Loser

It's interesting how certain contestants seem to stand out. Shay was on Julio's butt for not working out enough. And of course, he dropped a ton of weight that weigh in. lol Everyone did well this week except for the pink team.

Alison told the contestants this week that they would have to lose 150 lbs combined in order for no one to go home. Week 2 is a notoriously bad week for TBL. In week 2, some contestants have actually gained weight. The body goes into shock after losing so much weight in week 1, and it starts to panic, thus the contestants tend not to lose as much weight in week 2.

The contestants first went to meet with Curtis Stone and his awesome accent to learn about proper cooking and portions. They answered 5 out of 8 questions correctly about Curtis's presentation. They were rewarded with 15 lbs being lowered from the 150 lb goal.

Their challenge consisted of them walking across a balance beam as a team. Each section of the balance beam completed gave them another 5 lbs to their goal. At the end, they had 20 lbs shaved off their goal, leaving them with 115 lbs. Also, they were able to call home.

At the weight in, the group ended up losing 155 lbs total. They did not need the pounds they earned during the challenges.

What struck me the most was the personalities. Coach Mo is a wonderful motivator. He's also the oldest, I hope he goes far. There's always one contestant every season who is the slacker, this season it's Julio. Eventually Shay will lay the smack down on him. That should be fun.

Macho Monday on 9th Season of DWTS

This will be the first of a series I’ll review for this season of DWTS. Since there’s been some blogs about LOST, what the hey. It's not like there's much of interest on DAYS to editorialize about right now. Speaking of which, there is no connection to DAYS with DWTS besides past dancers Lisa Rinna and Jerry Springer…

The show started with a bang with all of the sexy male pro dancers doing their thang. Derek, Maksim, Mark, Tony…just too much hotness for one stage.

And then the contestants came on…

Aaron Carter and Mark Dacascos – Both leading contenders so far, but neither one of them is really good yet. Aaron needs to tone it down and Mark needs to loosen up.

Donny Osmond – My sentimental favorite out of the bunch. As the judges pointed out, he’s a “fan favorite”…and maybe that’s because he’s an actual star on DANCING WITH THE STARS. Just like Marie, Donny’s got Star Quality out the ass. He needs to work on technique, but he’ll be a lot of fun…maybe even, gasp, win! He definitely had the dance of the night. I had a crush on him when I was a kid...and it may be coming back.

Louie Vito – Cute in a quirky sort of way. There’s potential there.

Michael Irvin – He got one of the lowest scores, but I really don’t know why. He wasn’t any worse than any of the other ones below. And at least he looked like he was having fun on the dance floor and didn’t have a big ole stick up his butt. And Bruno gave him a “4” even! Looks like the Italian judge didn’t get any action this summer. Which leads me to...

Ashley Hamilton – Obviously Daddy George Hamilton gets laid a lot more than his son! This one needs to loosen up if he’s going to have a future. Still his partner, Edyta, gets bonus points for the most gorgeous dress of the night.

Chuck Liddell – Seeing this brute dance with the graceful light Anna reminded me a bit of “Beauty and the Beast” and not in a good way. I thought he was pretty cringeworthy until I saw…

Tom Delay – The worst of the worst! After five seconds of watching him gyrate around to “Wild Thing”, I began to squint my eyes and pretend he was Gilles Marini just so my brain wouldn't explode. Poor Cheryl. If I had to go from Gilles to the Hammer, I’d be pissed.

Out of the group, Donny was the only one who really entertained me. Let’s hope the women tonight are better. What do you think?

Congrats to Michael Emerson

He won for Outstanding Supporting Actor at the Emmy's last night. He totally deserves it, but I still hate Benjamin Linus from Lost. lol Michael also won for a guest spot on The Practice. He played a psycho on that show too.

Also congrats to Kristin Chenoweth for winning Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role as Olive on Pushing Daisies. I miss that show.

Diva Picks - 9/14 to 9/18

Winner of the Week: NATHAN HORTON. Okay, here’s my bone I’m throwing out to the younger crowd. Nathan’s problem all along for me (and I expect for Melanie too) is that he’s just too much of a nice guy. Seeing him break the rules at the hospital was a welcome change-of-pace. And even though he feels bad that he’s not living up to the Horton legacy, he really is. Sure, Dr. Tom usually played it strictly by the book; but Dr. Mike Horton was a rebellious renegade of the ER, often coming out the victor in the end. So this is probably a nostalgic choice on my part, but hey, there wasn’t much in the way of Winners this week. I still wish I knew who Nathan’s real father is. He seems way too smart to be the son of Pete Jannings. Maybe Melissa Horton had Jack Deveraux’s baby after she left town (which serves as a perfect excuse to bring Matt Ashford back).

Loser of the Week: SAMI BRADY. I’m sorry, but I’ve so had it with this whining loser that Sami has become. Yes, she’s grieving for Grace, I get that. But how I miss the file-faking Scami who would roll with the punches and give as good as she got! And nothing is more boring than when Sami starts playing at suffering martyr. Now she’s gone to the convent supposedly to get space and heal from her emotional wounds…with the occasional sexual fantasy about Rafe from time to time. Sorry, but Sami in a convent just gives me horrid flashbacks of Santos and Colleen from 2007. I really hope that when Sami finds out about Nicole’s plot, she’ll get some of her spunk back.

Dishonorable mention for another Loser of the Week: LUCAS ROBERTS (Repeat “Loser of the Week”). With the news that Bryan Datillo’s going to be put on backburner status for a while (possibly forever), it is too obvious that DAYS is now making Lucas completely insufferable so he can go quietly into that good night off-screen and no one will miss him. As is their usual strategy, the writers are hoping that we’ll all just forget about the Lucas that we’ve watched for the last decade so we’ll embrace the PASSIONS reject (Rafe) that they’ve foisted upon us. Yes, Lucas can be an immature Momma’s boy. He was capable of being incredibly vicious to Sami (back in the days when she gave as good as she got), but I don’t recall him ever being so nasty with anyone else. Laying into Chloe about her infidelity not ten seconds after she came out of her coma was pretty despicable…and in my opinion, out-of-character for Lucas. Usually, when the wronged cheated-upon husbands become a little too overbearing, that’s the storyline of doom that bodes no good for the future of said character. See “Roman Brady” during the early days of the John/Marlena affair and “Tony/Andre Dimera” during the John/Kristen affair. My heart goes out to all of the LUMI and Lucas fans. Also, I hope Bryan Datillo survives the Tomlin regime cuz he’s a helluva cool guy!

Scene of the Week: STEFANO and KATE. Both the scenes on Monday and Friday with these two vet villains were terrific…although it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around Stefano playing chess with any other woman besides Marlena. When’s the wedding for the happy couple?

Performer of the Week: LAUREN KOSLOW. Hands down, this was Lauren’s week to shine. First, we had the fantabulous Stefano/Kate scene with those love/hate barbs flying back and forth. And then there was the Hitchcockian madness with Dr. McCreepy. We got to see all different levels from her this week – from Cold Bitch Mode to Rejected Lover to Scheming Mommy Dearest to Homicidal Maniac. Over the top, but delicious at the same time.

Zinger of the Week: Stefano to Kate - “My driver is much bigger than Victor’s.”

What the Fuck Moment of the Week: So Justin is shot and assumed dead by everyone on Friday…and is in a business suit complaining that he can’t play golf on Monday? I can only repeat…WTF?! Maybe the writers were stumped to explain why Adrienne wouldn’t come to Salem to see her shot husband? Or maybe they thought that the viewers really would rather see yet another pointless and monotonous conversation between Nicole and Mia?

Random Thought of the Week #1: Arianna to Rafe (regarding the break-up with Brady): “We looked good on paper…but there was no way it was going to work.” Funny, I could say the same thing about the whole PASSIONS 2.0 romance that Tomlin’s trying to recreate. No…wait…actually, that didn’t even look so good on paper, come to think of it.

Random Thought of the Week #2: If we really have to sit through all of these godawful Mia scenes, the least the writers could have done was have Maggie talk about her adopted daughter, Janice Barnes, a little bit during the scene where Mia confesses about giving Grace up for adoption. It would have been a nice nod to history and a bonding moment that would have deflected attention away from Taylor Spreitler’s unmoving bangs, monotone voice and dull-eyed stares. That chick must have gone to the Nadia Bjorlin School of Acting.

Random Thought of the Week #3: Couldn’t we just keep Chloe in her coma? I liked her much better that way.

Update on Bryan rumor

Soap Opera Digest says Bryan Dattillo will be "briefly off the canvas." Soap Opera
Weekly quotes 'a rep for the actor' as saying, "He'll be on less, but he won't be totally off the canvas". Lucas is going to rehab on September 25th.

Thumbs down to SOD

They complain about the lack of a Guiding Light tribute during the Emmys, then don't give GL a SOD cover for their last week on the air. Talk about hypocritical! They didn't give Passions a cover either from what this Diva remembers.

Second Chances on The Biggest Loser

The Biggest Loser, the season of "second chances" kicked off with a bang. Dan from season 7 returned for his second chance on campus which I think is great because as much as he needed to be there, he left last season so that his incredibly unmotivated partner could stay.

Anyway, before they even made it to campus the bus stops and they're told that they are going to have their first challenge right then. They're going to run the last mile of the BL marathon from the previous season. The winner will have immunity and get to choose their partner who will also have immunity. Dan ended up winning the race, no real surprise there since he's been working out for four hours a day for the last six months while the others have just begun. He chose Shay as his partner who is the biggest contestant now at 476 pounds. At the end of the race though two contestants, Mo and Tracy (later determined to be the purple team) are sent to the hospital. Tracy had to be medevaced out. Ali tells everyone that they will both return which Mo did by the end of the episode, Tracy had not.

Later on back on campus it's revealed that Bob and Jillian will be working together to train all of the contestants. I'm guessing Bob figured if he can't beat Jillian, join her. 5 minutes into the workout Shay quit but did decide to come back. At the weigh in, Mo weighed in alone but had lost enough to keep him and Tracy safe. The black team, Julio and Alexandra ended up falling below the yellow line with the majority sending Alexandra home.

While it was a pretty emotional episode, especially when Abby told her story of losing her husband and children in a car accident. (Yes, The Diva cried.) I enjoyed it. It's still early but so far they seem like a motivated and likeable bunch. What are everyone's thoughts?

Diva Picks - 9/8 to 9/11

Winner of the Week: VICTOR KIRIAKIS. In one eppy, he singlehandedly broke up Theresa and Ethan…I mean, Arianna and Brady…with one fell swoop. And that makes the Big Greek a winner in my book!

Loser of the Week: PHILLIP KIRIAKIS. Sorry, this is a repeat loser now. But he’s such an ass! First, he has the gall to try to blame Stephanie for his scrump with Melanie and then he runs to Melanie with his BS about being “kindred spirits”.

Scene of the Week: BO VS. JUSTIN at the Pub. The scene itself was kind of short; but it promises what powerhouse scenes could happen if Bo and Justin really go toe to toe over Hope in the future. To hell with Carly, I’d like to see Bo fight for Hope…and not against a loser like Patrick Lockhart or a character from a major couple fanbase like John…but against someone who might actually have a fighting chance at making it a real triangle. Yes, Hope and Justin are just friends now; but if they’re locked up in a basement together somewhere or get in some kind of situation like that, I would love it if there was some kind of smoldering passion that emerges (with real chemistry, not forced). Add Victor into the mix, concerned over the battle of his son versus his favorite nephew…and there’s some must-see TV right there. Dena, take notes! Unfortunately, to see this kind of s/l done right, I’d probably have to write the damned thing myself.

Performer of the Week: MOLLY BURNETT. I will say this much. Having the comic qualities to her character helps Melanie be a trifle less annoying. Dare I say it, but Molly and Melanie were pretty watchable this week with the internet porn video saga. Granted, it was the only story this week that wasn’t just more of the same monotonous rehash. I guess the writers figure if they drag Melanie through the mud, she will be more palatable for viewers. So far, it seems like it might be taking.

Zinger of the Week: Rafe (about Sister Theresa’s story of Nicole’s time at the convent): “I didn’t convince her at all. She simply told the truth which actually is what nuns do. I think actually that being honest is part of their job description.”

Rewritten History Line of the Week - BRADY to SAMI: “Hey, what are big brothers for?” Sami was Marlena and Roman’s daughter born in the mid-80s. Brady was John and Isabella’s son born in the early 90s. Eric Martsolf doesn’t even look older than Alison Sweeney. Not to mention that Brady and Sami used to fight like cats and dogs back when Kyle Lowder was Brady. What can I possibly say? Maybe Dena Higley’s real talent does lie in writing for Cheerios commercials.

Dee is NOT amused!

Last week on GENERAL HOSPITAL, there was a storyline with Jason and Sam where they were investigating into a case of two characters with the names of "Drake Black" and "Deidre Evans". Turns out Queen Dee posted on her Facebook page that she thought the soap's references were "immature and disrespectful". Do you agree? Or does Miss Hall need to buy herself a sense of humor? Discuss amongst yourselves...

More Lost and Found

Not only does Flash Forward star Dominic Monaghan from Lost, it also stars Sonya Walger aka Penny Widmore Hume. Dom will not be in the pilot, but is a series regular.

Adventures from the Red Carpet

A lovable, heartwarming story about Gary Tomlin and others at the Emmys from a fan.

Please click on the link since someone from SON had a cow because I forgot to link them ONCE in last week's ratings blog.

Diva Picks 8/31/09 to 9/4/09

Winner of the Week: STEFANO DIMERA. Finally, he got his mojo back and killed off Dr. Baker. I still have my doubts the doctor’s really dead, but at least Stefano is fighting the good fight again. What took him so long?

Loser of the Week: LUCAS ROBERTS. Okay, why would Lucas ask Kate advice about keeping Chloe on life support when he suspected her of attempted murder like only a week ago? And then he stands by her bed and spouts off about how much he hates her and such. OK, the slut cheated on you, Lucas, but get a grip! Kudos to Craig for dressing him down…but why is Dr. Wesley leaving Salem so quickly when his daughter is still in such peril? Why did he just beg Lucas to play nice before leaving with his tail between his legs? Makes him kinduva loser too.

Scene of the Week: I’m not a Melanie fan, but seeing her response to the Phillip/Melanie sex scene on the Internet was good for some laughs. And I even cringed in sympathy when she had to turn to Brady and Arianna for help.

Performer of the Week: No real winners this week. Most of the cast seemed fairly bored actually. But I’ll give it to LINDSAY HARTLEY since some are giving her the credit for the boosted ratings this week. Much as it pains me to admit it, I suspect she is more responsible for the ratings boost than the RANSOM s/l. I just hope we don’t end up seeing any witches or monkeys in Salem any time soon! Honorable mention to JOSEPH MASCOLO for his scenes as Stefano. Yes, watching Stefano put his diabolical plots in motion is kind of old hat after twenty some-odd years, but nobody does it better.

Zinger of the Week: It’s a tie between UNCLE VIC and JUSTIN KIRIAKIS! Victor to the Passions 2.0 version of Brianna: “I’m out here to relax and have an evening cocktail, not watch a porn show!” Justin had two good ones this week. Justin to Daniel regarding his suspicions about Kate: “Oh my god the woman is doomed. You the accused saw her wearing gardening gloves on her own terrace in the middle of dare I say a garden. And she’s stingy with her appetizers. Clarence Darrow couldn’t save her now!” Another honorable mention for Justin screwing it to Uncle Vic: “I’m ignoring you. Seems more polite than telling you it’s none of your expletive deleted business.”

Rewritten History of the Week. Why are Allie and Johnny with Doug and Julie? D&J barely even had any scenes with EJ, Sami or Lucas. So why are they schlepping around the world with their kids? What is more badly written on DAYS? Character history or the not-so-subtle 30-second Cheerios commercials? Something to ponder...

Internet Stalkers

Due to the crazy stalker from about.days getting crazier by the minute, the blog's comments are under moderation. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Lost...and found

Lost fans. I got the new TV Guide. Three actors who used to be on the show are going to be in new TV series this coming season. Some of this info you probably already know. Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) is going to be in V. Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) is going to be in FlashForward. And Ian Somerhalder (Boone) is going to be in The Vampire Diaries. Elizabeth and Dominic will be on Lost this season also.

Lauren Koslow's Fashion Review

ShareLauren actually liked how Julie Pinson and Rachel Melvin dressed. Go figure! Here's her review.

Nadia talks about THAT picture...

WLS Red Carpet Interviews

On We Love Soaps, there is a post-Emmy wrap-up video podcast, including tiny snippet interviews with some DAYS cast members. Blake Berris talks about filming MAFIOSO and a new film with James Caan and Ving Rhames about the life story of Barry Minkow. Nadia Bjorlin discusses the trials of acting while in a coma storyline (yes, I'm serious!) There are snippets of Tamara Braun and Darin Brooks in the pressroom after their wins. At the end, there is a rather depressing segment where the WLS podcasters interview various people on Venice Beach to see who actually watched the Daytime Emmys. Predictably, the majority are not into senseless masochism, although there was an ex-DAYS fan who gave up the show once Marlena became possessed by the Devil. It's about a 30-minute podcast which is a bitch to rewind and fast forward but entertaining, nonetheless.

Buzzworthy Red Carpet clips

On the Buzzworthy Facebook page, there are Red Carpet interviews with PASSIONS 2.0 trio (Gering, Harley, Martsolf) and Peter Reckell. PR's comment that the show is really "cranking" with all of the PASSIONS LITE actors is rather pukeworthy, but at least he acknowledged Ed Scott. The PASSIONS gang seem to be just thankful that they are no longer unemployed...unlike the real DAYS cast members. Remember them, Kenny Corday, the ones that helped you get your undeserved Emmy nominations in the first place?
